2009 Belmont Stakes odds could be impacted by jockey Calvin Borel as he could be on Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra or on another horse entirely.
Rarely does a jockey have that big of an influence in Belmont odds but this year could be the exception.
2009 Belmont Stakes odds at the sportsbook will include Mine That Bird but they may not include Rachel Alexandra. And Mine That Bird’s trainer Chip Woolley has said he may not wait to see if Borel is available. That could put Borel on another horse if Rachel Alexandra does not run in 2009 Belmont Stakes odds.
Borel has already made sports betting history by becoming the first jockey to ever get off a Derby winner and ride another horse in the Preakness. He could make even more history if he wins all three races. And it is looking more possible that he could have three different horses. Borel is in the lurch a little bit since he is committed to Rachel Alexandra over Mine That Bird but if the filly doesn’t run he would want back on Mine That Bird. That option may not be available though in Belmont odds. He would definitely like to make sports betting history and become the first jockey to sweep the Triple Crown aboard different horses. Mine That Bird would probably be the favorite in 2009 Belmont Stakes odds at the sportsbook if Rachel Alexandra does not run so Borel would like to be back on board. Woolley has said he has been inundated with calls from jockey’s agents trying to get the mount for the Belmont. One jockey that won’t be aboard Mine That Bird though is Mike Smith who rode him in the Preakness as Smith has another riding commitment in California on the day of the Belmont.
Jockeys can get attention in Belmont odds but usually it comes when a Triple Crown is at stake. In a sense there is one but a jockey Triple Crown not a horse Triple Crown in 2009 Belmont Stakes odds.
2009 Belmont Stakes odds will include Mine That Bird who won the Kentucky Derby and other horses from that race including Dunkirk, Chocolate Candy, Summer Bird, Mr. Hot Stuff and Flying Private.
