November 30th, 2010 Belmont Stakes Betting

Belmont Stakes odds at the sportsbook have Flying Private a longshot to win the 141st running of the Belmont Stakes.

The horse is trained by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas but really hasn’t shown he can win a big race. It is not all bad news for Flying Private in Belmont Stakes betting though as he is the son of 2000 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus.

Belmont Stakes odds information does tell us that Flying Private is improving. He finished fourth in the Preakness, four lengths back of Rachel Alexandra. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas has not had a starter in Belmont Stakes odds since 2005 when A.P. Arrow finished fifth.

Flying Private has a dosage index number of 3.67 and that is cause for concern in Belmont Stakes odds since lower numbers point to being able to run a distance. Sports betting information tells us that Lukas was pleased with the horse in the Preakness though. “Flying Private ran a hell of a race. He really ran well. We went from 19th in the Derby to 4th in the Preakness. I’m happy. He liked the track a little bit better and he came running. I think we’ll see if he’s fine and go onto the Belmont, which has been our goal since Day One.” Lukas said.

Alan Garcia has been the jockey aboard Flying Private but that might not be the case in Belmont Stakes odds.

Belmont Stakes odds information shows that Flying Private does have Fusaichi Pegasus as his sire. Fusaichi Pegasus has sired 37 stakes winners but none of them are really standouts. Belmont Stakes odds info shows that the dam is Beautiful Treasure who has sired two foals who have both won.

Sports betting info tells us that in the last 15 years, Lukas has won four times in Belmont Stakes odds. He won three straight in Belmont Stakes odds from 1994-96, with Tabasco Cat, Thunder Gulch, and Editor’s Note. He also won in Belmont Stakes odds with Commendable in 2000. Since that time though he has lost with all four of his Belmont Stakes betting starters and none of them finished better than 5th. Lukas is trying to win his 6th Belmont which would tie him with Woody Stephens for fourth all-time in Belmont Stakes odds history.
