2010 Belmont Stakes Betting on Drosselmeyer

One of the contenders in 2010 Belmont Stakes betting will the Win Star Farm owned Drosselmeyer.

The horse was highly respected in the Dwyer Stakes but came up second to Fly Down.  Drosselmeyer will get another shot at Fly Down and eight other horses in Belmont Stakes odds.

2010 Belmont Stakes betting will likely favor Ice Box who finished second in the Kentucky Derby.  Drosselmeyer should be among the next group of horses with odd ranging from 5-1 to 10-1.  Win Star Farm has had an up and down rides in the Triple Crown races. They won the Kentucky Derby with Super Saver but the horse was never a factor in the Preakness.  Win Star Farm could have had a lot more contenders but Rule and Endorsement never made it to the big race. They had Super Saver and American Lion though and Super Saver gave them their first Derby win.

Win Star Farm will come back with Drosselmeyer in the Belmont Stakes.  This is the horse that many thought would be the best horse in the Win Star Farm group.  He didn’t earn enough to make the Derby and then disappointed in the Dwyer.  Elliott Walden who is the general manager of Win Star Farm said that everyone had high hopes for Drosselmeyer.

It is looking like a field of 10 horses for the Belmont.  Derby winner Super Saver and Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky will not be in the field.  That should give Drosselmeyer a better chance to win.  Trainer Bill Mott has pulled jockey Kent Desormeaux off the horse and replaced him with Mike Smith. Drosselmeyer worked six furlongs at Belmont Park in 1:14.10.

Drosselmeyer has the talent to win the Belmont but the question remains whether he will ever use it.  He was supposed to be the best horse for Win Star Farm but so far it has not happened. The Belmont has a weak field and other than Ice Box, there is not a big name horse in the field.  Drosselmeyer will have to prove he can beat Fly Down though as he couldn’t beat that horse in the Dwyer Stakes. Both horses are going to be underdogs though against Ice Box as he looks like the horse to beat in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 5th.
