Wild Recent NASCAR Betting Results Add Intrigue to Pocono

Gander RV 400 From Pocono

NASCAR has benefited from some of the most exciting finishes in recent memory.  Last week Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin exchanged leads on the final lap before Harvick took the checkers.  That was after Busch Brothers Kyle and Kurt beat and banged with Kurt winning the week before.  All of this has made for breathtaking action for NASCAR betting.  Now the series heads back to Pocono for the second time in 2019.  The push for the playoffs remains hot.  And with big names in danger of missing the cut.  Among them are Jimmy Johnson, Clint Bowyer, and Ryan Newman.

Gander 400 and Pocono Raceway Overview

Starting with 1974 the Gander RV 400 has been run under various different title sponsors.  It is the second of two NASCAR betting races run at Pocono each summer.  Last year Kyle Busch won this event for the second consecutive season.   Pocono Raceway was opened in 1971 and is known as the “Trick Triangle.”  Overall the asphalt surface is 2.5 miles in length with three turns banked between 14 and six degrees.  Such a configuration is unique and keeps crew chiefs working overtime on car setups.

Current Standings

Late on 2018 playoff champion Joey Logano has maintained his first-place lead in the MENCS standings.  2018 regular-season champion Kyle Busch has been the top online betting winner this year and is second.  Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski round out the top five.  Following are Martin Truex Jr, Kurt Busch, and Chase Elliott.  Completing the top ten are Aric Almirola and Alex Bowman.

Joey Logano

First place Joey Logano has two NASCAR betting wins this season with 14 top tens in 20 starts.  Logano has posted nine top-fives in 2019.  In 21 career starts at Pocono he has one win and eight top-ten finishes.  And his average finish at Pocono is 17.0.

Kyle Busch

In 20 races this year Kyle Busch has four wins, 11 top fives, and 17 top tens.  Despite the success, Busch has been frustrated with the new rules package.  He has frequently complained that drivers don’t need as much skill as in the past with the current setup.  Yet Busch continues to deliver.  In 29 career starts at Pocono Busch has three wins and 20 top-ten finishes.  Rowdy has an average finish at the Tricky Triangle of 15.7.

Harvick Off the Schneid

Although Kevin Harvick is in third place, he had not taken the checkers until last Sunday.  With that win at New Hampshire, he demonstrated the flash from the 2018 regular season.  Harvick has six top-fives and 12 top tens in 20 start this year.  Overall at Pocono Harvick has never won in 37 tries but has 17 top tens.  Furthermore, his average finish there is 12.8.

Other Pocono Notables
