Sunday FOX Motor Racing Betting Pennzoil 400

Seems like there is no more popular venue on the Motor Racing betting circuit than the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Sin City brings plenty of visiting fans and the race teams make it a working vacation.  So popular is Las Vegas that it is host to a total of two NASCAR Cup events each season.  Sunday will feature the first of those two races for the 2018 season.  NASCAR’s third race of the season is the Pennzoil 400 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  It’s no surprise that Jimmie Johnson has dominated at LVMS but there will be plenty of top contenders.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of the best tracks in all of Motor Racing Betting.  Although opened in 1972 it has been reconfigured three times.  With a capacity of 116,000 Las Vegas Motor Speedway became a mile and a half track in 1996.  Turn banks at LVMS range from 12 to 20 degrees.  Asphalt is the surface of this tri oval superspeedway.  Vegas hosts a race in the spring and one more in the fall.  Brad Keselowski has won two of the last four spring races at Las Vegas.  Martin Truex Jr. was the winner last year in this event.  Jimmie Johnson has four career wins in the Las Vegas spring race.

Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick is coming off a win in last week’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.  As a result, Harvick is now fourth in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings.  Most noteworthy is that Harvick rebounded nicely from a 31st place finish at Daytona the previous week.  Joey Logano leads the standings with Ryan Blaney right behind. Denny Hamlin is in third place.  Brad Keselowski enjoyed a nice turnaround last week.  After finishing a poor 32nd at Daytona he was second at Atlanta last week.

Kurt Busch and Others to Look Out For

And there were other drivers experiencing the highs and lows of the early season.  Another strong comeback last week was by Kurt Busch.  Following a 26th place finish at Daytona Busch placed eighth last week in Atlanta.  Conversely it was a stunning setback for rookie Darrell Wallace Jr.  Wallace placed second at Daytona but stumbled to 32nd in Atlanta.  Surprisingly the great champion Johnson has been just plain bad.  After finishing 38th at Daytona he finished 27th in Atlanta.  Few stock car gamblers could have seen that coming.

Logano

Interestingly enough Logano has never posted an online sportsbook win at Las Vegas.  This is despite his average finish there of tenth.  Especially relevant is that Logano has three top fives and five top tens in nine starts at LVMS.  Probably nobody should feel better about their chances this week than Johnson.  With 16 starts at Las Vegas he has four wins and nine top tens.  In addition, Johnson has an average finish of 10.94 at Vegas.

Matchup to Watch

Comparatively speaking Johnson and Logano look like the best Motor Racing Betting choices.  Because of his consistency at LVMS Logano rates a solid shot at taking the checkers.  Offsetting Johnson’s record at Las Vegas is his terrible start to the season.
