Standings Leader Scott Dixon Betting on IndyCar Series Favorite Sunday

Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Presently Scott Dixon has the hot hand for betting on IndyCar Series races.  First, he leads the Verizon IndyCar series standings.  What’s more he was the winner of the last race at Toronto.  Dixon leads second place Josef Newgarden by 62 points.  Equally important are his three wins on the season.  Newgarden was last year’s IndyCar champion.  However, Dixon is tied with Dario Franchitti for the all-time title list at four.  In spite of not winning the championship since 2015 Dixon looks primed for his fifth crown.  Supplementing that would also be the all-time record for IndyCar championships.

Past and Present

The Honda Indy 200 has been run every year since 2007.  Additionally, it has been run at various times since 1980.  Joseph Newgarden was the betting on IndyCar Series winner at Ohio in 2017.  Even though Newgarden was the winner last year Dixon owns the track.  Consider that he has won this event a total of five times.  Additionally, he has an average finish at Mid-Ohio of 5.0 in 11 starts.  At the same time, he has posted eight top five finishes.  As a result, he will garner plenty of betting action this week.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course opened in 1970.  Now for this race 90 laps will be run for a total of 203.22 miles.  Honda operates assembly plants nearby in Marysville, East Liberty and Anna.  Concurrently they have been title sponsor since 2007.

Josef Newgarden

As was previously stated Josef Newgarden is second in the standings.  Overall, he has three wins for 2018.  By contrast to Dixon, Newgarden has been solid though not great at Mid-Ohio.  To show he has one win and one top five finish in six career starts there.  Likewise, his average finish at Mid-Ohio is 11.8.  Newgarden has finished seventh or better in the final standings the past three years.

Alexander Rossi

Meanwhile a driver gaining respect is third place Alexander Rossi.  Even though he is only in his third season he has shown rapid improvement.  Rossi posted one win this year at Long Beach.  Additionally, he has finished in the top ten in nine out of 12 races.

Ryan Hunter Reay

In contrast to the top three is wildly inconsistent Ryan Hunter Reay.  While winning at Detroit he has also finished 16th or worse four times this year.  The 2012 IndyCar Series champ has had mixed luck at Mid-Ohio.  Overall in 11 starts there, Hunter Reay is winless with just three top five finishes.

Will Power

2018 Indy 500 winner Will Power could be a strong value selection this week.  To begin with he has two wins on the season.  And is in fifth place in the standings.  In particular he has strong numbers at Mid-Ohio.  To illuminate Power has six top five runs in nine starts there.  Correlate to that is an average sportsbook finish of 5.6.

Matchup to Watch

Certainly, Dixon is an understandable betting on IndyCar Series favorite.  Commencing with that will be an expensive price.  Alternatively, Will Power offers proven ability and with a better price.
