Restrictor Plate Racing

Restrictor plate racing has its share of critics.  Much of it is based on drafting with a “partner” driver.  There is no margin for error.  That’s because Large packs of cars inches apart at 200 miles per hour can crash with a miniscule mistake.  Such crashes are known as “The Big One.”  To win a driver will often need someone behind them.  While giving the back bumper a friendly push.  True, some say it’s not “real” racing.  However, it is Real EXCITING! Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick continue to dominate.  Each has five NASCAR betting wins this season.

Same Names Different Races

The top tandem continues to make headlines.  Busch won a thrilling race last week.  He bumped Kyle Larson in the final turn to take the checkers.  That was after Larson did a slide job on Busch out of turn two.  All agree it was one of the greatest finishes in NASCAR history.  Larson himself has climbed to ninth in the standings.  The top two are in great recent form.  Busch has five consecutive top five finishes.  Harvick has four straight top four runs.

Other Racers to Consider

Joey Logano is quietly third in the standings.  He has just one win.  However, Logano has been among the most consistent contenders every week.  Defending champion Martin Truex Jr is in fourth place.  He has two wins in the last four races.  Brad Keselowski, Cint Bowyer, and Kurt Busch are next.  Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney round out the top ten.

Daytona’s Records

Harvick has had good sportsbook success at Daytona.  He has two wins and 34 starts with 14 top tens.  Harvick’s average finish there is 17.2.  Jimmie Johnson has three career wins at Daytona.  But has not been in reliable form in 2018.  Kyle Busch has one win and eight top tens in 26 career starts.  His average finish is 18.7 at Daytona.

Matchup to Watch

Plate races bring a wild card NASCAR betting element.  There is a lot of luck involved.  Logano makes for an intriguing pick.  His quiet success bodes well in a plate race.  He has one Daytona win and eight top tens in 19 career starts.  Logano has an average finish there of 16.6.
