Hamilton and Vettel Continue Betting on Formula One Dominance

2018 Hungarian Grand Prix from Hungaroring

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel continue to dominate betting on Formula One results.  For instance, Hamilton was last week’s winner at the German Grand Prix.  Counter to that was Vettel winning the British Grand Prix before that.  Concurrently Hamilton leads the standings with Vettel right behind.  A distinct difference remains with the rest of the field and the top two.  In comparison only, Daniel Ricciardo has impressed.  Ricciardo has two wins on the season.  Especially impressive was his win at Monaco.  But he has lacked the consistency of Hamilton and Vettel.  Hungaroring hosts this week’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

Past and Present

Commencing with 1986 the Hungarian Grand Prix has been a regular betting on Formula One staple.  Lewis Hamilton leads with five career wins in this event.  However, Sebastian Vettel was the winner last year.  A further look at Hungaroring shows a 2.722-mile track.  Additionally, this race will be comprised of 70 laps.  Since 2012 Hamilton has taken the checkered flag three times.  Meanwhile Vettel has two wins in that span.  And Ricciardo was the winner in 2014.  Of great concern to gamblers is the lack of passing in previous races here.  As a result, qualifying will be key.

Lewis Hamilton

Now Lewis Hamilton leads the current Formula one standings with 188 points.  Above all the defending F1 champ has posted four sportsbook wins on the season.  Following that is Vettel with 171 points.  Identical to Hamilton is Vettel’s four victories on the year.  Balanced against that was a retirement last week in the German Grand Prix.  It was his first of the 2018 campaign.  Likewise, Hamilton has just one retirement which occurred at Austria.

Hamilton’s Stats

On this occasion Hamilton will rank as a justifiable favorite.  To illustrate is his impressive record at the Hungarian Grand Prix.  To begin with Hamilton has posted five wins in 11 starts at Hungaroring.  Additionally, he has nine top five finishes.  And an average finish there of 4.3.  By reason of this Hamilton will be a consensus choice to win on Sunday.

Kimi Raikkonen

Third place Kimi Raikkonen makes for an intriguing alternative.  Although he is win-less in 2018 he’s been in the hunt most weeks.  Consider that Raikkonen has one win and nine top five finishes at Hungaroring.  In particular he is going to bring a bargain price compared to Hamilton and Vettel.  Correspondingly Raikkonen has an average finish at Hungaroring of 6.1.

Vettel

Comparable to the rest of the field Vettel is a solid contender at Hungary.  To illustrate Vettel has two wins and seven top fives in 11 starts at Hungaroring.  Vettel’s average finish there is 7.1.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen could be a top dark horse at the Hungarian Grand Prix.  Starting with his average finish of 4.7 in three career starts.  Equally important is that he has won a race this season.

Matchup to Watch

Of course, Hamilton and Vettel are the betting on Formula One favorites at Hungaroring.  True, Raikkonen and Verstappen are appealing value picks.  Balanced against that is Hamilton’s utter dominance.  Likewise, his numbers this season and at Hungaroring rate the call!
