In case there was anyone out there on the planet somewhere that still harbored doubts about 4-time defending NASCAR champ, Jimmie Johnson’s driving ability, this year’s Final Sprint Cup Betting competition should erase any doubt whatsoever that Johnson is a once a once in a lifetime talent and looks set to win his 5th straight Chase competition in 2010.
Johnson put on another masterful performance this past weekend in the 3rd race of the 2010 Final Sprint Cup betting odds competition. He didn’t win the race but his second place finish just behind race winner Greg Biffle was good enough to grab him the points lead in the Chase for the first time this season.
And as anyone who’s been following the sport for the past half decade knows, there’s nothing harder than trying wrestle a lead away from Johnson in the Chase. Three of the past 4 years when he’s won the final Sprint Cup betting title he’s led in the point standings after the 3rd race of the season. And sure enough after three races Johnson (5,503) holds a slight lead (8 points) over Denny Hamlin.
Through 3 races in the Chase this year Johnson has a win, a 2nd place finish and a top 10 finish. That’s the best results of any driver yet this season in the final Sprint Cup odds battle and will likely carry him on to his 5th straight NASCAR driving title.
Up next in Chase for Johnson is the Pepsi 400 in Fontana, CA. Not only is Johnson the defending champion from last year’s final Sprint Cup betting competition but he seems to race extraordinary well here. But then again he seems to race well on any surface. On the super speedways he’s tough to beat. On the small tracks he’s tough to beat. On steep banking…well, you get the picture.
There are only a couple of drivers right now in the Chase that have any real shot of derailing the Johnson express and one of them is his teammate Jeff Gordon. Gordon sits just 58 points back and as 4-time NASCAR champ he knows what it takes to win and has one of the most consistent cars on the track this season.
But if Johnson wins again next week in California, the Sprint Cup is as good as his.
