Cup Crossover Drivers Betting on NASCAR Chalks for Firecracker 250

Once again, the Xfinity Series will see the Cup Crossover effect on Friday night.  The Coca Cola Firecracker 250 will include drivers from the top tier MENC Series.  As is always the case the betting on NASCAR dynamics will change.  Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, and Chase Elliott will join Xfinity regulars.  Adding to the intrigue is the restrictor plate factor.  Tight bunches of cars and drafting are the norm at Daytona.  A driver cannot win these races on their own.  A partner is always required.  Which makes for compelling strategic agendas.  And plenty of surprises.

Coca Cola Firecracker 250

The Coca Cola Firecracker 250 has been run under various names since 2002.  It is comprised of 250 miles and 100 laps.  Stages one and two are 30 laps.  The final stage is set for 40 more laps.  William Byron was the betting on NASCAR winner last year.  Also, Aric Almirola took the checkers in 2016.

Daytona International Speedway

The Daytona International Speedway was opened in 1959.  It hosts two Xfinity Series races each year.  The first one is held on the eve of the Daytona 500 in February.  The track is 2.5 miles in length and a tri oval configuration.  The turn banks are very steep at 31 degrees.  The tri oval is at an 18 degree banking.  Asphalt is the surface.

“The Big One”

Due to its configuration speeds could easily reach well over 200 miles per hour.  As a result of cars flying into the grandstand in the 1980’s rules had to change.  Restrictor plates have been put into the engines to slow the cars down.  Consequently, there are tight packs of cars racing and drafting.  “The Big One” is a regular part of racing at Daytona.  It’s meaning is multiple car wrecks due to those tight packs of cars racing together.

Larson, Blaney and Elliot

Of course, the crossover drivers will be top sportsbook favorites.  Kyle Larson has three Xfinity Series starts.  In fact, he has won two of those runs.  Most recently Larson was the winner last week at Chicago.  Ryan Blaney has two Xfinity races this year.  He has one win and a fourth place finish.  Chase Elliott has raced the Xfinity Series four times.  He has a top finish of second place.  He has one other top ten in the junior circuit.

Elliot Sadler

After leading since the second week of the season Elliot Sadler has dropped in the standings.  Sadler is now in third place.  He is yet to win a race this year.  The Xfinity Series veteran was regular season champion last year.  Sadler has never won in 18 starts at Daytona.  He has an average finish of 13.8.

Other names to consider

Cole Custer has taken over the top spot in the standings.  Denial Hemric in in second place.  Neither driver has won a race all year.  Consistent top ten finishes have been their ticket to the top.

Matchup to Watch

Kyle Larson was part of last week’s historically great finish in the Cup Series. He was bumped out by winner Kyle Busch on the final lap.  Indeed, he has shown to be a top shelf driver.  And a top betting on NASCAR Xfinity winner.
