Coca Cola 600 Overview

At the beginning in 1960 this race was known as the World 600.  The Elvis Presley movie “Speedway” was shot at this venue.  No other race has the technical difficulties of the Coca Cola 600.  Consider the track is hot and sticky at the start.  Then comes dusk with the sun blazing in the eyes of the drivers.  Following are the final laps are under cooler and better track conditions.  Crew chiefs will say that you get three or four cars out of one in this race.  FOX broadcaster Darrell Waltrip is the all-time leader with five wins.

Recent Winners of the Coca Cola 600

On the whole nobody has been a dominant betting on NASCAR driver in this event.  Parity has been the rule rather than the exception.  Jimmie Johnson was the last driver to repeat as winner of the Coca Cola 600.  He posted three straight wins from 2003 through 2005.  Last year’s regular season champion Kyle Busch was the winner.  Austin Dillon took the checkers in 2017.  Martin Truex was the winner in 2016.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Standings

Despite Kyle Busch leading the standings nearly all season he has slumped to second place.  By contrast 2019 Playoff champion Joey Logano has taken over the top spot.  Kevin Harvick is third despite not winning a race.  Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowski round out the top five.  Next is Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr, and Kurt Busch.  Closing out the top ten are Clint Bowyer and Ryan Blaney.

Top Performers and Charlotte Motor Speedway

So far in 2019 Denny Hamlin has had a comeback type of season.  Hamlin has two wins including the Daytona 500.  Although he has not won a race at Charlotte, he has a top average finish of 12.1.

Next is seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson with eight wins and 21 top tens.  His average finish at Charlotte is 12.3. Johnson has 34 career starts at Charlotte.  However, he has not had much online betting success the past two years.

Also doing well are Charlotte have been Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick.

Matchup to Watch

On this occasion drivers will be extra motivated and focused.  Charlotte is one of the betting on NASCAR destination and marquee events.  Joey Logano combines good recent form and a strong record at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
