Winners of O’Reilly Auto Parts 500

To begin with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 has been run under various names since 1997.  The actual distance of the race is 501 miles with 334 laps.  Kyle Busch was the betting on NASCAR winner of this race last year as well as in 2016 and 2013.  Jimmie Johnson took the checkers in 2017 and 2015 with Joe Logano winning in 2014.  Further, Kyle Busch is the career leader with three wins in this event.

Texas Motor Speedway

Texas Motor Speedway opened in 1996 and seats 181,655.  Starting with a 1.44 track length with four turns banked between 20 to 24 degrees is one of the fastest tracks on the schedule.  The oval configuration has an asphalt surface.  Extending the reputation of the track is strong fan support.  Thus, Texas Motor Speedway gets two MENCS races each year.

Jimmie Johnson

Certainly, it’s no surprise that seven-time MENCS champion Jimmie Johnson has had great success at Texas.  Johnson has 31 career starts at Texas with seven online betting wins, 15 top fives and 21 top tens. An average finish of 9.8 makes Johnson one of the top shelf divers at this track.  However, the elephant in the room is Johnson’s relatively poor results the past two years.  Concurrently he is in 15th place and is coming off a poor 24th place showing at Martinsville this past week.

Kevin Harvick

In the second place, Kevin Harvick has also performed well at Texas.  Harvick has 32 career starts at Texas with two wins, 10 top fives, 20 top tens and an average finish of 10.8.  Despite those numbers and his current third place ranking, Harvick has not had a car set to his liking so far in 2019.

Kyle Busch

Most important of all is the tremendous showing of Kyle Busch.  Indeed, Rowdy nation has been in the running every week.  And at Texas Kyle shows strong with three wins, 12 top fives, and 13 top tens in 26 starts with an average finish of 11.8.  Rowdy has emerged as the most dominant and dangerous driver in the current era.  More emphatically he is a legitimate threat to win any race, even when NASCAR sends him to the back of the pack.

Matchup to Watch

On this occasion its important to recognize that the dominant drivers are the most sensible betting on NASCAR choices.  Last year we heard about the “Big Three” and rightfully so.  Concurrently this year is looking like just a few drivers have a real chance.
