Foster’s Australian Grand Prix F1 Odds at SBG Global

F1 odds for the 2009 season begin with the Foster’s Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, March 29th beginning at 2 AM Eastern.

F1 betting odds show that Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen are among the main contenders this week. F1 odds are always popular on Hamilton, especially since he won the 2008 season championship.

Hamilton became the sport’s youngest ever champion at 24 years old.  He won a number of races in F1 odds a year ago including the Australian Grand Prix.  He started from the pole last year and was able to hold off Nick Heidfeld to get the win.  Only five cars finished on the lead lap and only six cars finished the race.  Nico Rosberg finished 3rd, Fernando Alonso 4th, Heikki Kovalainen 5th and Kazuki Nakajima 6th.

Hamilton is the favorite in F1 odds to win the 2009 F1 Championship at 7-5.  Raikkonen is the second choice at 3-1 followed by Felipe Massa at 3.5-1.  The only two other drivers that are getting any play in F1 odds to win the championship are Fernando Alonso at 4.5-1 and Robert Kubica at 5.5-1.  The rest of the drivers at listed at F1 betting odds of more than 10-1.  Heikki Kovalainen is 14-1, Heidfeld is 16-1 and Sebastien Vettel is 28-1 in F1 odds.  All of the other drivers are more than 60-1 in F1 betting odds.  Last season Hamilton won the title by just a single point over Massa.  Raikkonen and Kubica tied for third but they were well back of Hamilton.  Alonso finished a point ahead of Heidfeld for fifth.  Kovalainen was seven points back in seventh and then there was a big drop off to Vettel in 8th, Jarno Trulli in 9th and Timo Glock in 10th place.

There are also F1 odds on which team will win the Constructors Championship.  Ferrari is the slight favorite at 6-5 in F1 odds followed by McLaren Mercedes at 9-5.  BMW Sauber is next at almost 3-1 followed by Renault at 9-1 in F1 odds.  The rest of the teams are big longshots in F1 odds. Red Bull is 25-1, Toyota is 35-1, Williams is 50-1, Torro Rosso is 75-1 and Force India is 100-1 in F1 betting odds.  Last season Ferrari won comfortably over McLaren-Mercedes to win the Constructors Championship in F1 odds.  BMW Sauber was the only other team close to the top two.
