Breeders Cup Wagering Menu Selection Process

November 30, 2010 By Smith

Breeders Cup Wagering

Breeders Cup wagering menu items have all kinds of betting possibilities. The various types of bets that can now be made in the process of playing the Breeders Cup odds is mind-boggling. But when you cut to the core, the Breeders Cup menu could not exist without the horses; athletes that must go through a very strict vetting process in order to qualify to race.

Breeders Cup  menu fans spend hours pouring over every detail and betting angle, but very few actually take the time to examine the animals themselves and put themselves in the horses’ shoes, so to speak. Often, the horses are overlooked as fans participating in the Breeders Cup odds wagering focus only on potential payouts and betting strategies. The fact of the matter is these animals are elegant creatures that must earn their way onto the Breeders Cup wagering menu.

But just how do thoroughbreds come to be featured in the Breeders Cup odds?

Just as with any great athletic event, the horses must qualify and, if successful, they will be featured in the Breeders Cup menu. For most races on the Breeders Cup wagering menu there is a maximum of 14 horses allowed. Therefore, of all the thoroughbreds, only 14 horses remain before the Breeders Cup odds wagering event begins. The exceptions to the 14 horse limit are the dirt mile, juvenile turf, and the juvenile filly turf races.

In order to bring the field down to the desired size for the Breeders Cup menu there are three criteria on which the entry into the Breeders Cup ultimately depend. The horses competing to appear in the Breeders Cup  menu receive a final ranking based upon how well they perform in Breeders Cup challenge races, a points system, and the decision of a panel composed of horse racing experts. The combination of these three things will lead to a horse’s inclusion in or disqualification from the Breeders Cup menu.

If an owner hopes to see his horse included in the Breeders Cup menu, they must file by the pre-entry date which is generally around the middle of October. This gives the panel time to create the rankings in the various classes in the Breeders Cup wagering menu and decide which horses will make the final cut.
