The Broncos travel to Santa Clara on Sunday for another tough interconference matchup against a top NFC West contender. Following a 30-26 Sunday night NFL odds win over the Rams that lifted them to 2-1. In comparison, San Francisco is 3-0 after a 36-30 home win over Arizona.
So far, the Niners have been the more explosive team. They are averaging more than 32 points a game with Brock Purdy throwing nine touchdowns against one interception. Christian McCaffrey remains the engine of Kyle Shanahan’s offense. And the 49ers have stacked yards on the ground and through the air at Levi’s Stadium.
Meanwhile, Denver’s path has been bumpier. Bo Nix was efficient enough in the comeback against Los Angeles after a quiet opener in Kansas City. And then Jaylen Waddle gives Sean Payton a downfield option the Broncos lacked a year ago.
Of great concern is that the defense that carried Denver last season has allowed more than 23 points a game. Now they will have to slow Purdy and McCaffrey without extra days to prepare. San Francisco last hosted Denver in 2018 and has been strong at home in this series.

Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers Matchup Analysis
On the whole, the NFL Betting matchup turns on whether Denver’s front can make Brock Purdy play from behind the sticks. And whether Bo Nix can keep the ball out of the middle of Shanahan’s coverage.
San Francisco’s offense is built on motion, play-action, and McCaffrey as a checker and a runner. Consider that Purdy has not been sacked through three games and is averaging more than nine yards per attempt. Meanwhile, the Broncos have to win first down, or they will spend the afternoon chasing.
Denver’s defense has been leakier than last year’s version. Especially against the run. And that is the first problem Payton’s staff has to solve without a short week as an excuse.
On the other hand, Shanahan’s defense will try to take away the easy completions Nix used against Jacksonville. Thus, forcing him into the intermediate windows where the 49ers have been stealing the ball. Waddle’s presence stretches the field in a way Denver did not have last season. But Levi’s Stadium in early October still favors the home team’s timing game. And more than a visiting quarterback who has been up and down.
Payton will want to run enough to slow the 49ers’ pass rush and set up the bootlegs Nix likes. If those keepers work, the game stays within a field goal. However, if McCaffrey and the tight ends win early downs, San Francisco can pull away that way.
Namely, Shanahan wants to dictate personnel and tempo before the snap. While Payton wants to script an opening drive that tests San Francisco’s edges and then adjust.

To conclude, Sharps will take the 49ers to cover a short number at home. They are the more complete team through three weeks and Purdy has not been pressured. Finally, the total leans over 45. Late on, both offenses just put up 30-plus. And neither defense has been stout enough to keep this in the thirties if the game stays on schedule.
