2026 NFL Futures Odds – Can Saints Go Marching In

The New Orleans Saints enter the 2026 season with more optimism than their recent results would suggest. But a serious playoff run remains a stretch rather than a realistic expectation. After finishing 6-11 in 2025, they closed the year on a strong note. Following a horrible start, QB Tyler Shough took over as the starter and went 5-4 in his starts.

That late NFL odds surge, combined with an improved supporting cast and a relatively soft NFC South, has the team positioned as a possible dark horse. Kellen Moore is in his second year as head coach. And then the offense has been upgraded around Shough. In addition to running back Travis Etienne and first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, to complement Chris Olave.

The offensive line looks more stable after years of investment. Corroborating that veterans like Alvin Kamara and Cameron Jordan are still around to provide experience. The defense under Brandon Staley has some pieces in place, though it has seen turnover.

2026 New Orleans Saints NFL Future Market Odds Prospects

Betting markets have the Saints’ win total sitting at 7.5. In addition, offshore betting playoff odds are around +180 to +185 and NFC South odds in the +265 to +270 range. Overall, projections generally place them in the 7-9 win range. That is competitive enough to battle for the division in a wide-open NFC South. But it is not yet built like a team that can make noise beyond a first-round exit if they get there.

An NFL Betting path exists if Shough takes a clear step forward and the Saints win the division with eight or nine wins. That would end their multi-year playoff drought. However, turning that into a serious postseason run would require the young core to outperform expectations, especially against stronger competition and for the roster to hold up better than it has in recent years.

Most analysts view 2026 as a step in the right direction. In addition to a chance to contend for the South. But it is not yet a year for New Orleans to become a true NFC threat capable of a deep playoff push. The foundation is improving. Yet the gap to the league’s top teams remains noticeable.

Certainly, the NFC South is very much winnable for New Orleans this year. The division remains one of the softer groups in the conference, with no clear dominant team locking it down. Tampa Bay is generally viewed as the slight favorite. But the Buccaneers have their own questions. Neither Carolina nor Atlanta looks like a locked-in powerhouse.

The Saints closed 2025 on a strong note once Tyler Shough took over at quarterback. As mentioned earlier, the offseason additions of Travis Etienne, Jordyn Tyson, and the offensive line help give them a more complete roster in comparison to what they have had in recent seasons.

Consequently, Kellen Moore’s offense should benefit from that continuity and talent. There is a more favorable overall schedule, and eight or nine wins could easily be enough to claim the division. Thus, that can further tilt the odds in their favor if things break right.

To conclude, betting markets reflect that reality, pricing New Orleans as a legitimate contender rather than a long shot. Still, the Saints need Shough to take another step forward and the defense to hold up better than it has at times. But the path is clearly there. In a division without an entrenched elite team, New Orleans has a realistic shot at winning the NFC South in 2026.
