The NFC North enters 2026 training camp as one of the most competitive and unpredictable divisions in the league. Following a season in which all four teams finished above .500, the Chicago Bears claimed the title. Veterans report by the end of July, with the Bears at Halas Hall, the Lions in Allen Park, the Packers at Lambeau Field, and the Vikings at the TCO Performance Center. NFL future odds expectations remain high across the board. But each club carries distinct questions about consistency, health, and roster continuity.
Chicago arrives as the defending division champion. Following an 11-6 campaign that marked a dramatic turnaround under Ben Johnson. The central storyline is whether Caleb Williams can raise his floor, especially after a promising but occasionally uneven second year. The explosive plays and late-game heroics were there. Yet the Bears need more drive-to-drive reliability if they are to contend at a higher level.
On offense, the supporting cast looks promising with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III forming a young receiving duo. While tight end Colston Loveland offers another dimension. Defensively, the front remains a question mark after limited upgrades, and both starting safety spots are new.
Left tackle is unsettled with Ozzy Trapilo recovering from a patellar tendon injury. Thus, forcing a competition that could involve Braxton Jones and Jedrick Wills Jr. Camp will reveal whether the offense can build on last year’s foundation. And whether the defense can generate enough disruption without major additions.
2026 NFC North Training Camp Preview
Detroit is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 9-8 online betting campaign. Of great concern was the offensive line’s regression from strength to liability. The Lions responded by shifting Penei Sewell to left tackle. Also, they drafted Blake Miller for the right side. And then adding center Cade Mays, along with veteran depth. How quickly that group coalesces will shape the entire offense.
Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs is now the clear featured back after David Montgomery’s departure. Additionally, his expanded role in both the run and pass games should make him one of the most productive players in the league.
Last year, Green Bay finished 9-7-1. Of major concern is that they enter camp without Micah Parsons for the early portion of the season after the star edge rusher tore his ACL and meniscus.
Parsons is expected to open on the physically unable to perform list. Hence, putting immediate pressure on Lukas Van Ness and the rest of a thinned pass-rush group following the trade of Rashan Gary. The Packers need Van Ness to take a clear step forward if they are to survive the first month.
Running back Josh Jacobs remains a central figure on offense. His legal situation continues to hover over the team after a May arrest. The club is monitoring developments. And any absence would force greater reliance on depth options whose consistency has not yet been proven. Of course, the receiving group has talent, but sorting roles and chemistry will be another early NFL betting focus as Jordan Love looks to elevate the offense once again.
Finally, Minnesota is staging an open quarterback competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. Following a 9-8 season that featured multiple signal-callers. Murray arrives with a fresh start under Kevin O’Connell. While McCarthy is still working to justify the high draft capital invested in him.
Certainly, the winner will inherit a strong supporting cast that includes Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and a capable run game. Brian Flores’s defense remains aggressive and opportunistic. Thus, giving the Vikings a chance to contend if the quarterback situation stabilizes.
