Clark Returns But WNBA Struggles Continue

With the return of Caitlin Clark from injury, WNBA betting is certain to pick up after a couple of weeks without the marquee player. The WNBA was largely overlooked until Clark emerged last year as a rookie phenom, triggering a significant increase in attendance, TV ratings, and betting handle. Still, the WNBA is turning off curious fans with racial, sexual, and political strife that has nothing to do with basketball. Equally important is the hatred that many in the WNBA harbor towards Clark. Despite Clark growing the financial pie, she is ostracized by the rest of the league.

Fever Intensifies For Indiana with Clark Back on the Court

Namely, Caitlin Clark returned to the Indiana Fever lineup and had a significant impact on the sportsbook. Indiana annihilated the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty 102-88 to cover as 3.5-point home dogs easily. Clark scored 32 points and was 7-14 from 3-point areas. She added eight rebounds and nine assists.

As a result, Indiana is 5-5 straight up, 6-4 against the spread, and 4-6 under the total. Indiana covered the spread in three of its most recent four games, with three of those tilts going under the WNBA betting total.

Indiana has an interesting schedule this week, which is expected to draw attention and an increased betting handle. First is a Tuesday night home game against the Connecticut Sun at 7 pm ET on NBA TV. Next brings a Thursday game on the road at Golden State. Tipoff time is 10 pm ET on Prime Video. And then on Sunday, the Fever face the Las Vegas Aces in Sin City with a 2 pm tipoff and coverage on ESPN.

Clark is averaging 21.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. Second in scoring for Indiana is Kelsey Mitchell with 17.2 points per game.

In particular, the game in Las Vegas will be an excellent measuring stick for both teams.

Slow Start at the Payout Window for Aces

So far the Las Vegas Aces are 5-4 straight up, 3-6 agaisnt the spread, and 6-3 over the total. Las Vegas failed to cover its most recent three games. The Aces went over the total in five of their last six outings. Of great concern is the Vegas metrics of 6th for scoring offense and 9th for points allowed. A’Ja Wilson leads the Aces with 20.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Next for the Aces is a Tuesday road game at the Minnesota Lynx at 7 pm ET. On Friday, the Aces host the Seattle Storm with a 10 pm ET tipoff on ION.

Lynx Can’t Cover the Tab on Straight success

On the whole, it has been a great start for the Minnesota Lynx, at least on the hardwood. Minnesota is 1-0 straight up but 5-6 against the spread with 5-6 under the total. However, Minnesota did get the money in three of its most recent four games. The Lynx lead the Western Conference standings. Overall, Minnesota ranks 2nd for scoring offense and 2nd for points allowed.

First among Minnesota scorers is Napheesa Collier with 26.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
