Richie Porte’s Tour Cycling Odds Shortening

Richie Porte had good cycling betting odds of making the Tour de France podium, but they are now even better after Alberto Contador and teammate Chris Froome -among others- have been forced to step down. This turn of events has thrust the Australian dark horse into the spotlight as the single greatest threat to current yellow jersey wearer Vincenzo Nibali. In a way, this scenario parallels the 1985 film American Flyers, with Porte and Froome filling the roles played by David Marshall Grant and Kevin Costner. We have yet to see whether Porte does indeed defy the odds and gets his own Hollywood ending.

Tour de France Odds

Cycling odds for the Tour de France have been rocked by the departures of Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck, and current champion Chris Froome. Team Sky’s Richie Porte -who was the Cal Naughton, Jr. to Froome’s Ricky Bobby last year- now has the chance to take on a more leading role, though he’s still only second favorite behind Italian Vincenzo Nibali of Team Astana.

Next Prime Minister Political Odds

Politics may or may not be a game of chance, but either way there is political betting, for instance as to who will be England’s next Prime Minister. Here are the top contenders.

Ed Miliband (4/5). Holds the record for youngest Leader of the Labour Party, being 40 when he assumed leadership of the party, at which time he also automatically became Leader of the Opposition. Miliband has described himself as a new type of politician, and as such has expressed support for gay and lesbian marriage.

2016 US Presidential Election

When it comes to political betting the US presidential election is the equivalent of the Superbowl, or the World Series. The odds that there is going to be a female president are 11/8 versus 4/7 for a male president. Still, Hillary Clinton is clear-cut favorite to win the election. The Scottish independence referendum will take place on Thursday 18 September 2014. There is no doubt that if Mark Renton were a real person he would vote yes, if not for independence at least for finding a decent culture to be colonized by. On the other hand, English celebrities such as actor Ross Kemp, comedian Eddie Izzard, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, and actress Michele Collins are trying to show how decent they are by asking Scotland to please Let's Stay Together.

Will Brazil defy Olympic odds?

Olympics betting odds may or may not favor Brazil as a competitor, but its odds as a host are shortening after a successful World Cup. Not successful in the sporting side of things; the national team failed miserably to win the trophy at home, and were humiliatingly blown to kingdom come by the mannschaft blitzkrieg, in a non-performance that only confirmed the oft-suspected fact that the Brazilian team should have been eliminated much, much earlier. Prior to that announcement the list average price for a ticket to the home game in the Bronx with KC had started at some $135 plus before that announcement and now the price as of this past Saturday is over $450 according to the ticket resale market.

Will there be a new franchise in Los Angeles

As we move into the upcoming 2014 NFL Preseason and Regular Season it appears that the NFL would like to return to Los Angeles and even Roger Goodell wants a team in L.A.  Thus the idea is no off the board or dead as of this moment.

National Championship new format for final game at AT&T stadium

The new NCAA Football National Trophy game of the 2014 NCAA Playoffs will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  The game will compile some 60,000 out of state fans and it is expected that over $300 million in spending will take place as the area in Texas host this game under its new format.
