2015 NBA Sportsbook Favorites

The 2014 NBA post-season just ended a couple of days ago, but online sportsbook websites have already figured the odds for the favorites to win the 2015 Championship. Not unsurprisingly both the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs are right at the top. What may be surprising though is that the Heat has better odds than the Spurs. The only thing that may conspire against San Antonio’s chances is the fact although Tim Duncan has won five NBA rings, he’s never won two consecutive championships. Duncan’s no longer essential for that to happen ; in fact he has become to Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard what the Admiral David Robinson once was to him. However, if his mere presence in the team is somehow  enough to take the Spurs out of the title hunt, then Miami would certainly become odds on favorites.

Can the U.S. overcome sports betting odds?

Unlike pretty much any other sport, Americans are soccer sportsbetting underdogs. However, on June 22nd the U.S. national soccer team will have to pull off an Amazonian feat the likes of which have not been seen since Werner Herzog’s 1982 film Fitzcarraldo. Not only do they have to face erstwhile favorites Portugal -who could very well look to prey on the U.S. as a means of bouncing back from their humiliating loss against Germany- but they may have to do so without key figures. This match will be very complicated, and not despite but because of the United State’s hard-fought victory over Ghana.

World Cup Online Betting News: There will be a new champion

Betting online on Spain? Better bet again. Still reigning champions -though not for very long- Spain have been knocked out the World Cup by Chile, with one game yet to go on the group stage. The Spaniards could break goal-scoring records in their last match versus Australia and they would still only amount to three pitiful points, when their tormentors The Netherlands and Chile already have six each, enough to secure their qualification to the next phase of the tournament. All that’s left for Spain now is a loser faces loser match against the socceroos.  A formerly formidable squad that also won 2012’s UEFA European Championship and went on a 35-gane winning streak between 2006 and 2009 has fallen into some hard times. What -or who- was the downfall of the soon to be ex-champions?  Paradoxically, all fingers are right now pointed at the erstwhile hero and leader of the ‘Roja;’ a man whom his miraculous saves earned the nickname of Saint Iker. That’s right; it may be a cliché but it is nevertheless true: the higher they are the harder they fall. And none have fallen harder than Iker Casillas. If it’s any consolation, this time pride did not come before the fall; it’s tough to picture a more humble idol than Casillas.

2014 NHL Draft Top Sportsbook Prospects

If the NHL Central Scouting top 10 prospects matched the entry draft order, then online sportsbook predictors would have an easier time figuring out who becomes the first overall pick.

But where would be the fun in that, right? Last year, for instance, to prospect Seth Jones was the 4th overall pick, while second best prospect Nathan MacKinnon was the first overall pick by the Colorado Avalanche. This year, the Panthers could easily go for Aaron Ekblad, Sam Reinhart, or Leon Draisaitl instead of Sam Bennet. Or they could forgo the first pick altogether and trade it in exchange for a top player, a prospect and another pick; a combination which would probably help them more than the first overall pick would.

2014 NBA Draft Sports Betting Odds

The first round order for the 2014 NBA draft has been set since May, with the Cleveland Cavaliers defying sportsbetting odds and snatching the coveted first pick for the second consecutive year and the for the third time in four years. The Cavs had the 9th worst record and only a 1.7% chance of winning the draft lottery. Thus, Cleveland will have a do-over of last year’s Anthony Bennett, considered one of the worst overall picks in the last 20 years. That’s a stark contrast with their 2011’s #1 pick Kyrie Irving who quickly achieved All-Star status.

The Cavaliers will be at leisure to pick and choose from the best prospects, but the top pick seems to be down to three up-and-coming stars: Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embid, and Duke’s Jabari Parker.
