UFC 126 Odds Preview: Does Belfort Have A Chance Against Silva?.  Heading into the February 5th matchup in Las Vegas between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort the world wants to know one simple thing: does Belfort have even the slightest chance of beating world champion Silva in the UFC 126 odds? The short answer is: no.

Silva is a once in a lifetime type of fighter.  He is the most talented fighter in the world in any weight class which gives him a huge advantage.  But he’s also arguably one of the smartest and most disciplined fighters in the world.  And when you combine those physical tools with that kind of awareness in the Octagon it creates an almost indestructible force.

Granted, Silva has been beaten before and obvious he’s beatable, but the man to do it hasn’t yet appeared on the MMA scene and it certainly doesn’t appear to be his opponent in opponent in the upcoming UFC 126 betting action.

To date Silva has racked up a record of 27-4 in 31 MMA bouts.  That’s not an overly impressive tally, but it’s also entirely misleading.  The losses came early in his career, including his first MMA bout in Brazil later in PRIDE.

Silva has never lost a UFC sanctioned event and he’s not about to start in the UFC 126 odds competition.  The champ not lost a fight since 2006 and has successfully defended his title 9 straight times (a UFC record).

Belfort is an impressive fighter with big wins on his fighting résumé but with a career record of 19-8 he’s also got some unimpressive losses on his record as well.  He’s an impressive fighter but he can also be over aggressive which is trait that Silva is a master at exploiting.

Both of these fighters are schooled in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu style and are very similar to a certain extent.   But the execution is where these two fighters vary.  Compared to Silva, Belfort can be a bit sloppy and lacks the patience and perhaps even the discipline in the Octagon that Silva has.

But not many people have that type of skill set and that’s why Silva will retain his world title after this UFC 126 betting matchup and Belfort will add another loss to his record after the UFC 126 odds competition.
