We are now on the tennis circuit and The 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament is underway and has brought us a strong group of players, and we will anxiously wait to see who the upcoming superstars of the Men’s ATP are unknown at the moment.
Because here at the All England Club, all most have heard about are the Big Four with R. Nadal, R. Federer, N. Djokovic and A. Murray, and those four men happen to be the only winners for the ultimate 12 years of the Wimbledon Trophy.
What we think indicates a change is the win by No. 8 S. Wawrinka at the 2015 French open, and there are several players below the No. 8 ranking that are viable candidates of being the next to win everything at this famed London Tournament . Thus we will take a look at some possible 5 players who have the potential to win a slam victory on the Grassy Courts of Wimbledon.
So let’s looks at some potential Sleeper’s and the predictions!
We start with K. Nishikori who is close to becoming a well known name in tennis, who presently is ranked at No. 5 who for this 2015 season already has two titles to his name and has won 37 of his 46 match-ups to date. In April 2015 he won the Barcelona Open and in his last 6 events he has made it to at least the quarterfinals. This young Japanese sensation had 3 wins at the Gerry Weber Open on grass that upped his career wins to 23-18 on the Grass Courts. Now the odds have him at +2,500 to win this grand slam event.
Then we have Czech-T. Berdych who is 29 years old, and the odds on him are +2,500 as he seeks his 1st Grand Slam if his career. To date he has had a great season with 37 wins and 11 losses to date. In the last 11 tournaments in 2015 he has made it to the quarter finals in 10 of the tournaments or better. However, he has struggled with the Big Four as 7 of his 11 losses have been to that group. In his favor is his record on the grass, as his career record is 50-22 and at No. 6 he made the final round here at Wimbledon in 2010 and made the quarters back in 2007 and 2013 as well.
Then we have the Frenchman J. W. Tsonga who is ranked at No. 12 and is very good on grass with a career 38-15 and at Wimbledon he is also 22-7 in his career at the All England Club and comes into the tournament at +2,500 tennis gambling odds. Having the same odds as some of the other top 10 players, indicates to us he may be on the verge of a winning season. If he could repeat his play of the French Open, and then lost in the semifinals to S. Wawrinka, and then improve on that, then he could have enough to win here at the Club of All England.
Next is Canadian M. Raonic at +3,300 who is ranked No. 8 is also seeking his 1st Grand Slam of his career. This may be his best shot to date, as last year at this event he made the semifinals. To date his season has been solid with a 23-10 record and has made the quarters in his last three matches, and the quarters or better in 7 of his last 10 tournaments he entered. Plus at the Brisbane Int. he lost in the finals to R. Federer. His problems have been with the top 10 as this season he has only won 2 of 7 events when facing a top 10 player. If he can get an early win from a top ten opponent, he could defy the odds and win his 1st ATP Major.
Last but not least of the sleepers is Australian N. Kyrgios at the young age of 20 whose odds are at +4,000 and wants to be the 1st Australian star, but has to over shine his career record of 25-21. He has not the best record, but on the grass his is 6-2 and 1 of the 2 losses was to S. Wawrinka at the AEGON Championship this season. When he’s in the spotlight he’s at his best, with a 13-8 record in Grand Slam events, and this year in the majors he’s 5-2.
