Sportsbook Site – First Four NCAA Tourney Games will be at Dayton. We now know where the first four games of next year’s NCAA basketball tournament will be held so you can already start planning those brackets at the sportsbook site.
The University of Dayton will host all four first-round games next March. Remember as you look at college hoops odds on the sportsbook page next season that the tourney has expanded from 64 to 68 teams.
Two of the games at Dayton will have seeds number 65 through 68 playing each other with the two winners getting a 16 seed and playing a 1 seed in the next round. The other two games will match the last four at-large qualifiers. These four games will take place on Tuesday, March 15th and Wednesday, March 16th in Dayton.
Expanded Field – This will be the first year since 2001 that the NCAA Tournament has expanded. They added one team in 2001 going from 64 to 65 teams. The play-in game between the 64th and 65th team has been in Dayton ever since that time.
Every Game on TV – This year every single game will be televised. Those first four games from Dayton will be broadcast on Turner’s Tru-TV. The new television deal has CBS and Turner broadcasting splitting up coverage of the tournament. Two Good Games and Two Rotten Games – The four games that will get us down from 68 teams to 64 teams are going to have two good games and two bad games. No one at the sportsbook page really cares about the 16th seeded teams. The two games that matchup the 65, 66th, 67th and 68th seeded teams will get limited action. The other two games though are going to be very good. They are the ones where you could have two number 10 seeds playing against each other for the right to face a number 7 seed in the next round. Those 10th seeds could be really dangerous in the next round as they will have already played a game in the tournament.
