The Jets enter this game off of a very shaky preseason, but having won their home opener against the Buffalo Bills, 48-28. After scoring only 1 TD in 4 preseason games, the Jets were led by QB Mark Sanchez to 3 TD in a rout of the Bills. New York forced Buffalo into 4 turnovers, as well. Sanchez threw an efficient 19-of-26, for 266 yards, though he also threw 1 interception. Backup QB Tim Tebow played a little in the wildcat formation but was used sparingly. The Steelers lost a tough road game to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, 31-19. Denver held a 334-284 edge in offensive yards, and held the ball for nearly 10 more minutes than Pittsburgh. QB Ben Roethlisberger was unimpressive, throwing 22-of-40, for 245 yards, but also 2 touchdowns, and 5 sacks. WR Antonio Brown received for 74 yards on 4 catches, but there were few bright spots for the Steelers. They were up 19-14 in the fourth quarter, but their defense collapsed, allowing the Broncos to score 17 points in the final period.

These two teams have met seven times since 2001, with the Steelers up 4 games to 3. In January 2011, in the AFC Championship game, the Steelers won 24-19 when Pitt was favored by 3 ½ points. In December 2010, the Steelers were favored by 5 ½ points, winning 22-17 but missing covering by ½ point.

The Steelers are a 5 ½ point home favorite for Sunday’s game. The over/under is set at 45 ½ points.
