Chiefs Ink Chambers, Dolphins Bring Back Pennington

Chiefs Ink Chambers, Dolphins Bring Back Pennington. Sportsbook fans read the news that the Kansas City Chiefs signed wide receiver Chris Chambers on Monday while the Miami Dolphins brought back quarterback Chad Pennington. The Chiefs got a lot of mileage out of Chambers late last season and sportsbook online had Kansas City signing him to a three-year, $15 million dollar deal.

Sportsbook had Chambers leading the Chiefs in receiving last year and in yards per catch.  The Chiefs got Chambers for virtually nothing last year and it proved to be a great decision as he became their best downfield threat.  Dwayne Bowe was out of the lineup a great deal and Chambers became the team’s #1 wide receiver. He has 518 career receptions for 7,435 yards and 57 touchdowns.

In another signing on Monday it was the Miami Dolphins bringing back quarterback Chad Pennington.  He signed a one-year deal on Monday to backup Chad Henne.  Last season it was Pennington getting hurt in the third game of the season and not returning. Henne took over the starting job and is expected to continue as the starter next season. Pennington will be coming back from the third operation on his throwing shoulder. He has come back twice previously and won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2008. He led the Dolphins to the playoffs that season.   Pennington has been a winner with Miami but will be forced into a backup role as the Dolphins look to the future with Henne as their starting quarterback.

The Chiefs and Dolphins are considered sportsbook online longshots to win the Super Bowl next season. Both teams could be improved though.  The Chiefs were not very good in 2009 so it would not take a lot for them to be better next season.  The Dolphins were competitive last season but had a very difficult schedule that was just too much to overcome.  Both teams have been active in free agency and it could be that the make up of both teams is a little bit different for the 2010 sportsbook season.  The NFL Draft is just over a month away and that will be another factor in how these teams look heading into next season.  Kansas City has more holes than Miami so they will need to rebuild a few areas. Miami may just be a player or two away from winning the AFC East again.
