Another Top 5 Team Loses Sportsbooks Betting

Sportbooks betting had another Top 5 college football team bite the dust as #4 Mississippi was beaten 16-10 at South Carolina on Thursday.

The Rebels had moved up the rankings but they were an online sports betting loser at sportsbooks in the game against South Carolina.

Sportbooks betting has seen a lot of Top 5 teams lose this season. Oklahoma lost in Week 1 to BYU. Oklahoma State lost to Houston when they were ranked #5 among sportbooks betting sites while USC was shocked last week in college football betting by Washington.

The Rebels sportbooks betting loss was a poor effort as they didn’t do much against South Carolina. The team seemed to be relieved that they lost. ''I'm glad it's over with so everyone can just stop talking about it,'' Rebels offensive lineman Bradley Sowell said. The new sportbooks betting rankings should drop Mississippi a lot, perhaps out of the Top 20. The Rebels did not look like a Top 25 team, yet alone a Top 5 squad in the sportbooks betting loss to South Carolina. The offense was terrible as sportbooks betting stats showed and Jevan Snead took himself out of any Heisman Trophy talk. ''I never did sense that we were feeling a lot of pressure,'' coach Houston Nutt said. ''Now it is what it is. You've lost your first conference game. You've got to work hard and win the next conference game.''

South Carolina should move into the Top 25 after their sportbooks betting win. South Carolina has been 1-31 all-time against Top 5 teams but now they can hang their hat on a huge win in college football betting at sportsbooks. ''It was a pretty ugly win, but a win and we'll take it every time,'' Gamecocks quarterback Stephen Garcia said. Sportsbooks have them as underdogs against Ole Miss but South Carolina looked like the better team. ''It was good to get a win when everybody watches,'' head coach Steve Spurrier said. ''It was good for all Gamecocks.''

The only previous win for South Carolina in sportbooks betting against a Top 5 teams was back in 1981 against North Carolina.

South Carolina has done well in sportbooks betting on ESPN of late. Two years ago they ended #8 Kentucky’s unbeaten start as sportbooks betting results showed. The Gamecocks should be a popular choice at sportsbooks in future weeks.
