Sports Betting Page – Blackburn Fires Manager.  A surprise in the Premier League made news on the sports betting page on Monday when Blackburn announced that manager Sam Allardyce was fired.  It has not been a great season for Blackburn who is 13th among 20 teams but it has not been a disaster either.  The team has lost three of its last five matches in sports betting though although performance is not the main reason that Allardyce was fired.

New Owners
The main reason that Allardyce was fired is that ownership wanted to go in another direction.  Venky’s Group is looking at other things beyond this year and they didn’t want Allardyce as the manager.  His assistant Neil McDonald was also fired.  Steve Kean will be the interim manager. The new owners were not willing to give Allardyce the decision making power he wanted.  Allardyce wanted full control of the transfer policy and the new owners were not willing to give it to him.  Allardyce was very surprised and disappointed with the decision.  The Venky’s Group gained control of Blackburn about four weeks ago and they are starting to get things in order for the future.  The decision to sack Allardyce seems to have been over the transfer policy.  Allardyce wanted control that the ownership was not willing to give him.

Allardyce Should Find Work Soon
Since ownership was the main reason that Allardyce was fired, it is very possible he will find another job soon.  West Ham United could be in the mood to change managers and Allardyce would be their choice.  Allardyce is also in the mix to be the head coach of England’s national team. Allardyce is well respected as he led Blackburn to 15th in his first season. He also led them to the Carling Cup semi-final and a 10th‑placed finish in his second season.  One of the most respected managers in the world is Manchester United’s Alex Ferguson and he called the decision by the Blackburn owners to fire Allardyce “ridiculous.”

Upcoming Schedule
It will be interesting to follow Blackburn on the sports betting page next month.  The team is off for the holiday break. They will get back into action in January as they host Liverpool in sports betting odds at SBG before road games at Sunderland and West Brom.  If Blackburn doesn’t win early they will face relegation pressure and the decision to fire Allardyce will really look bad.
