Preakness Stakes Wagering – Don’t Forget about Midnight Interlude

Preakness Stakes Wagering – Don’t Forget about Midnight Interlude. As you get ready for Preakness Stakes wagering don’t forget about Midnight Interlude. It would be easy to overlook the horse after he didn’t run a lick in the Kentucky Derby but trainer Bob Baffert said the horse has bounce back well in training and looks good. Make your Preakness Stakes bet right now at the Sbg global sportsbook.

Quick Work
Midnight Interlude was very good on Monday in his workout at Churchill Downs. He worked three-eighths of a mile in 35 and 3/5 seconds for assistant trainer Peter Hutton. It was the second fastest work at the distance and his time in the half mile of 48 3/5 seconds would have been the fastest work at that distance. Baffert said it was the best workout he has seen from Midnight Interlude since the horse has been at Churchill Downs.

Baffert’s Preakness Success
There is not another trainer you would want in the Preakness other than Baffert. He won last year’s Preakness with Lookin at Lucky and has won the race five times. He is second all-time in Preakness wins along with D. Wayne Lukas and T.J. Healey. They trail R.W. Walden, who won seven times in the late 1800’s.

Jockey Switch
Another factor that should help Midnight Interlude is a jockey switch from Victor Espinoza to Martin Garcia.  Baffert’s top jockey is Garcia so the switch should help Midnight Interlude and Garcia has worked the horse in the past. Espinoza will now ride Mr. Commons in the Preakness.  It is worth nothing that Garcia won last year aboard Lookin at Lucky in a similar situation as he was put on the horse in place of Garrett Gomez. The difference in talent though between Lookin at Lucky and Midnight Interlude is pretty good as Lookin at Lucky is a champion horse while Midnight Interlude still hasn’t done much in his career other than beat a weak field in the Santa Anita Derby. What should help Midnight Interlude in the Preakness are the shorter distance and the fact that Garcia is a better jockey and knows how to ride him.

Midnight Interlude should go off at double-digit odds in Preakness Stakes wagering behind the favored Animal Kingdom and the horse may have some value on Saturday.
