Boston Still a Threat vs. Bookmaker Odds as Big Three Stay Together

NBA odds at the bookmaker will have the Boston Celtics as contenders to win another NBA title next season.

The Celtics were able to keep their core together as two of their big three re-signed with the team and that means Boston will remain a threat vs. online bookmaker NBA odds.  Kevin Garnett was already under contract and the Celtics were able to re-sign free agents Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

Bookmaker odds won’t have the Celtics are the favorites to win the NBA title next season but they will be a contender.  The Celtics nearly won the title last year but just couldn’t get over the hump in the finals against the Los Angles Lakers.  Boston wants another shot though as they are keeping their roster intact.  Allen signed a two-year deal for $20 million to return to the Celtics. Pierce had already agreed to a new four-year deal and head coach Doc Rivers also said that he is coming back.

There were other teams interested in Allen but he wanted to come back to Boston.  He averaged 16.3 points per game last season as the Celtics reached the NBA finals for the second time in three years.  With Pierce coming back and Doc Rivers staying for at least another year, Allen wanted to return to Boston. Allen has his moments against the Lakers in the finals as he hit an NBA finals-record eight 3-pointers in Boston’s Game 2 win vs. NBA bookmaker odds but he didn’t do much after that. His age is a major concern but Boston wanted to keep their big three together for another run at a title.

Boston won 50 games last season but they were not a team that did that well vs. the bookmaker odds until the playoffs. During the regular season the Celtics were 33-47-2 against the spread.  They were dismal at home going 12-28-1 against the online bookmaker number. Everything changed in the playoffs though as Boston got on a big roll and nearly won a title. The Celtics covered two of their three home games in the finals against the Lakers and in the playoffs overall, the Celtics were much better vs. the spread on their home court than they were during the regular season.
