Hockey Betting on Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington

Hockey betting doesn’t get much better than on Sunday when the Washington Capitals host the Pittsburgh Penguins meet in a game that can be seen on NBC. The two biggest stars in the game, Sidney Crosby of the Penguins and Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals should put on quite a show for those that make a hockey bet before the Super Bowl gets underway later in the day.

Hockey betting has seen the Penguins and Capitals split their last ten meetings overall. The one advantage for the Capitals in this game is that the Penguins had to play yesterday at Montreal.   The Capitals won at Pittsburgh last month by a score of 6-3 in hockey betting as they got a little bit of revenge after being eliminated in the playoffs last season by the Penguins. The teams have split their last six hockey betting meetings at Washington.  Goals have been fast and furious lately in hockey betting when these two teams have met.  The last five games have gone over for those making a hockey bet with at least seven goals being scored in each of the five games.

When Crosby and Ovechkin get together it is usually fun to watch when making a hockey bet.  Only once in 16 regular-season meetings have both of them been held off he score sheet.  That happened back in 2007 when the Penguins won 2-0 in hockey betting.

The Capitals are playing better than any team in the NHL but they should at least get a stiff test in this game from the Penguins. The last time they met in hockey betting, the Capitals got third period goals from Tomas Fleischmann and Nicklas Backstrom to get the win. Five Capitals scored goals, led by Alex Ovechkin‘s two goals and an assist. Crosby scored a goal for Pittsburgh while Evgeni Malkin finished with three assists.  It should be noted that Pittsburgh did not have starting goaltender Marc Andre-Fleury for that game. Backup Brent Johnson was in goal for the Penguins and he is simply not as good as Fleury.

Pittsburgh has been a good team on the road this season for those making a hockey bet.  Pittsburgh as a top-five offense and now that Fleury is back in goal they should improve on defense.  The Capitals have the top ranked offense in the NHL and their defense is not bad at #11 in the league as hockey betting stats indicate.
