Winslow Turning Heads in Tampa Bay – Football Betting

An off-season move that went under the radar a little bit was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquiring tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. from the Cleveland Browns. If you ask any the Buccaneers about Winslow they will instantly start talking about how good he really is. Quarterback Luke McCown is one of those who is amazed at Winslow’s talent. “..He made a catch two weeks ago where I threw a back-shoulder throw on a fade (route). I threw it short because it was good coverage, and (Winslow) reaches back with one hand and makes the grab. It was unbelievable.” Tampa Bay is considered a longshot in football betting to win the 2009 Super Bowl as they are listed at 50-1 in football odds.

Football betting odds on Tampa Bay figure to be interesting in 2009 as the Bucs try and recover from last year’s late season collapse that cost them a playoff spot.  New head coach Raheem Morris is looking at new players who can impact the team this year including Winslow. Online sports betting information tells us that offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski uses tight ends a lot in his schemes and will put Winslow to good use this year. “I’ve been very, very fortunate with the guys that I’ve had,” Jagodzinski said. “I had Bubba Franks as a rookie. I had Alge Crumpler who was as good a tight end as I’ve been around. Now Jerramy and Kellen. I use those guys a lot. Quite a bit.”

Online betting information tells us that Winslow was signed to a huge contract by the Bucs so a lot is expected out of him.  Keeping him healthy is the big key.  He has been hurt in three of the last five seasons.  When healthy, he averaged 86 catches and impacted football odds on a regular basis.  He could do the same thing for Tampa Bay this season. Tampa Bay is very thin at receiver so Winslow will be critically important this season.  Clayton is one of only three receivers that have started more than 10 games in his career.  Antonio Bryant and Kelly Campbell are the other two but football betting information shows that Campbell hasn’t played in the NFL since 2004.

For Tampa Bay to win this season in football betting they will have to get excellent play from a lot of different players, including Winslow.
