San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Football Betting

Football betting has the red-hot San Diego Chargers favored at Cleveland on Sunday against the Browns. The Chargers have won six straight games overall and now lead the AFC West at 8-3.  The Chargers are not expected to have too much difficulty in this NFL betting matchup against Cleveland.

Football betting on San Diego has been very successful in the month of December.  In fact, the Chargers have never lost a game in December under head coach Norv Turner. The Chargers are coming off a 43-14 NFL betting rout of Kansas City last week. In this series against the Browns, the Chargers lead 13-7-1. The last football betting meeting between the two teams was in 2006 as the Chargers won 35-25 at home.

San Diego is led on offense by quarterback Philip Rivers who is having his best year yet.  He has solid receivers in tight end Antonio Gates and wide receivers Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd.  Running back LaDanian Tomlinson has looked much better in recent weeks and the Chargers have at least a little bit of a running game.  Defensively the Chargers are led by their secondary which features Quentin Jammer and Warren Cromartie.

Cleveland has not been very good on either side of the ball but at least with Brady Quinn at quarterback they have a little bit of offensive potential.  They don’t have much of a running game though and the wide receivers for Cleveland are young and inexperienced.

San Diego is 4-0 vs. the football betting odds in their last 4 games overall. The Chargers are 8-1 in NFL betting in their last 9 games in December and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an NFL betting favorite.

Let’s take a look at Cleveland’s trends:

The Browns are 4-1 vs. the football betting line in their last 5 vs. AFC.
The Browns are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
The Browns are 1-3-1 in NFL betting in their last 5 games as a home underdog.
The Browns are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 13 of NFL betting.

Four of the last five San Diego games in December went over the football betting total.  Five of their last eight road games in football betting went over.  On the other side, four of the last five Cleveland home games have gone under in football betting.  Against AFC teams, 7 of the last 9 Cleveland games have gone under in NFL betting.
