Patriots & Jets Favored in AFC East NFL Preseason Odds

AFC East NFL preseason odds are very competitive with the New England Patriots and New York Jets the two favorites. The time to make future wagers on who will win the division is now and there are some interesting NFL preseason betting numbers on the AFC East.

NFL preseason odds in terms of the AFC East division list New England as the even money favorite.  The Patriots are followed closely by the New York Jets who are +115 to win the AFC East.  Miami is not without a chance as they are 3.5 to 1 to win the division.  The only team with no chance is the Buffalo Bills who are 27-1.

The Patriots are very slight favorites based solely on quarterback Tom Brady.  In many other areas they trail the New York Jets.  The Patriots have won two of the last three AFC East titles but last year they were beaten by the Jets.  Last season the Patriots were third on offense but only 11th on defense.  Brady was solid last season as he threw for 28 TDs with 13 interceptions.  The key for New England this season will be the healthy of wide receiver Wes Welker who is recovering from injury. His off-season has gone very well and he could be ready to start the season. The Patriots did bring in Torry Holt to upgrade the receiving corps. The defense for New England is another story as they have holes all over the field.  New England is a very vulnerable favorite in NFL preseason betting in the AFC East.

The Jets are ready to defend their AFC East title.  They made it all the way to the AFC title game last season and they look better this season. The Jets were number one in the NFL on defense last season and they added cornerback Antonio Cromartie in the off-season. The offense is sporadic and they didn’t bring back Thomas Jones who was their best offensive player last season. They did bring in LaDainian Tomlinson but how much he has left is in question.

The Dolphins took a step back last season but they could bounce right back up in 2010. They added Brandon Marshall in the off-season and their offense will be better. The defense also looks improved with the addition of Karlos Dansby. The Bills have a new coach in Chan Gailey and a ton of weaknesses which means they have no chance in this division as the NFL preseason odds indicate.
