Patriots Offense Ready to Explode

The New England Patriots are excited to start the 2009 NFL season with a healthy Tom Brady and a multitude of offensive weapons. Football odds makers have made the Patriots the 4-1 favorite to win Super Bowl XLIV. One of the main reasons the Patriots are favored in football betting is the return of Brady. “I’m feeling great and just excited to be out there on the field, training with my teammates,” Brady told Patriots.com. “It’s always fun being back in this competitive environment and working with these guys to try to make 2009 our best season. It’s been fun to be back. I think everyone is excited to get back on the field and see what we’re capable of.”

The Patriots not only get a healthy Tom Brady back they also get a healthy Laurence Maroney.  He had a broken shoulder a year ago, yet he tried to play through the injury. “I had a broken bone and I was trying to play with it,” said Maroney.  In addition to Brady and Maroney, the Patriots still have wide receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker and they picked up tight end Alex Smith from Tampa Bay.

People may have forgotten that just two seasons ago the Patriots scored 75 touchdowns.  Randy Moss believes they can do just as well as their record-breaking 2007 season.  “The sky’s the limit for this offense,” Moss told ESPN. “I think that we could be a little bit better than two years ago.”  Welker agrees with Moss saying that the Pats are better than they were two years ago simply because of their experience in the offense.  Welker had 112 catches two years ago and 111 catches last season.

The Patriots open up the 2009 regular season at home against the Buffalo Bills in the Monday Night Football opener on ESPN.  It should be a showcase for the Patriots offense against Terrell Owens and the Bills.  The Patriots are likely to be about a 10 point favorite in football odds at the sports book in their home opener.

New England is getting a lot of respect in football odds at the online sportsbook even though Pittsburgh is the defending Super Bowl Champion. The Patriots are 4-1 in football odds to win the Super Bowl while the Steelers are 8-1 in football betting odds along with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
