NFL Betting Lines – Gamblers Like the Panthers now that Delhomme is Gone

The interception machine that was Jake Delhomme is no longer with the Carolina Panthers and gamblers are taking a real look at them in NFL betting lines.

The Panthers have a win total of 6.5 in NFL lines at NFL betting lines may not look any different on Carolina this season but the Panthers have a different feel without long time quarterback Jake Delhomme. The offense is now led by Matt Moore and that could be good news if you are betting on Carolina. The Panthers did very well last season down the stretch with Moore at quarterback.  And don’t forget that Carolina has the powerful running duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

Powerful Running Game:  The Panthers were third in the NFL in rushing yards per game last season with the powerful combination of Williams and Stewart. Normally when a team runs the ball they win football games but far too often Delhomme made a key mistake to throw the game away.  He is now in Cleveland so bettors will be focused on Matt Moore.  He played well last season in relief of Delhomme and with Williams and Stewart in the backfield, all he has to do is manage the game.  How often have you heard the term “game manager” in the NFL?  The Baltimore Ravens won a Super Bowl a while back with a game managing quarterback in Trent Dilfer. The Panthers may not win the Super Bowl but if you are betting their win total you only need them to win seven games.

Can Carolina Win 7 Games? – The Panthers get to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twice so that is two wins they should get.  Can we find another five wins?  They might steal one of three vs. their NFC South counterparts New Orleans and Atlanta so that gets them to three.   They get a gimme game against St. Louis that gets them to four. They can win at home vs. Chicago which makes five. They have road games at Cleveland and St. Louis and they may be able to win one of those which makes six overall wins.  They are capable of beating the Bengals or 49ers at home and that gets them to seven. They also have a home game vs. Arizona that they should win.  The Panthers have a favorable schedule that makes them a real threat to win go over their NFL lines win total of 6.5 in 2010.
