Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl Betting Preview

Super Bowl betting has the Indianapolis Colts favored against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Colts received much of the early action in Super Bowl odds while the Saints are getting some play now.  The Colts are led by Peyton Manning who is considered the best quarterback in the NFL.

Super Bowl betting does favor the Colts mainly because of Manning.  There are many people that simply don’t believe the New Orleans Saints can stop Manning and the Colts offense.  They could be right in Super Bowl betting.  The Saints don’t have a very good defense and even great defenses have had a hard time slowing down Manning and the Colts.

Indianapolis started the season 14-0 but pulled their starters in the fifteenth game and lost against the Jets. They also lost their season finale against Buffalo.  It hasn’t mattered since the Colts have taken out the Ravens and Jets in the playoffs.  Super Bowl betting has head coach Jim Caldwell as the fifth rookie head coach to lead his team to the Super Bowl.  Many people thought that losing Tony Dungy would end the success of the Colts but that has not been the case.

Super Bowl betting indicates that the Colts are led by Manning who directs a potent offense.  The Colts have a great offensive line led by center Jeff Saturday.  Manning has a quick release and teams rarely sack him. For the Saints to win in Super Bowl betting they will have to find a way to pressure Manning.  Indianapolis has excellent receivers in Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie.  Super Bowl odds have the running game as nothing special with Joseph Addai and rookie Donald Brown.

Defensively, the Colts were pretty solid this season.  They held opponents to under 20 points in 12 of their 18 games this season.  They did it without Bob Sanders who has been hurt.  They are now dealing with an injury to Pro-Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney.  Super Bowl odds indicated that the Colts are deep though as they have Robert Mathis on the other side.  The linebackers are good and safety Antoine Bethea is a Pro Bowler.  And the Colts have the oldest player to ever play in the Super Bowl in kicker Matt Stover who is very reliable.

The Colts are favored in Super Bowl betting because they are the better team. That doesn’t mean they will win but that is why Super Bowl odds have them as a five point favorite.
