It has not been a good season for Chicago or Detroit so those that bet on football might have a tough time picking a winner in this game.
NFL bet odds last week had the Lions losing yet again, dropping a 20-6 decision to San Francisco. The Lions turned it over six times and without quarterback Matthew Stafford they are simply not a team that many people making an NFL bet want to back. Last week in the NFL bet loss it was Drew Stanton throwing three interceptions before giving way to Daunte Culpepper in the fourth quarter. It was the fifth straight game Detroit has lost overall and their 20th in a row on the road. The Lions are 4-9-2 against the NFL bet odds this season but they have at least been respectable at home going 3-4 against the spread.
Chicago has been terrible away from home this season. They are 1-6 vs. the NFL bet odds in road games. Quarterback Jay Cutler has had a very poor season and the Bears haven’t even been competitive on the road on many occasions. Big things were expected from Chicago this NFL bet season and the Bears have not delivered. Those making an NFL bet on this matchup against the Lions might lean to Chicago simply because Detroit has been even worse but taking Cutler at anytime is a risky proposition when you bet on football. The Bears have also not played well defensively in recent weeks either so Detroit may be able to move the ball.
In this series between the Bears and Lions it has been Chicago winning seven of the last ten straight up. Chicago is 6-4 against the NFL bet lines in those games. Earlier this season in Chicago, the Bears won 48-24 as 9.5 point NFL bet favorites. The Bears have defeated the Lions in seven of their last nine meetings and they are 5-4 against the bet on football pointspread. Five of the last seven in this NFL bet series have gone over the total.
The total might actually be the way to go when you bet on football in this matchup. There is not a lot of appeal to either Detroit or Chicago so playing the total could be the choice in this bet on football matchup on Sunday.
