Cardinals Remain Only One-Loss Team With Win Over Cowboys

Cowboys and Lions football playersIn NFL Week 9, on Sunday, we saw the only NFL team with just 1 loss, the Arizona Cardinals now 7-1 (1st NFC West) beat the Dallas Cowboys now 6-3 (2nd NFC East) in Texas 28-17. The game was seen on Fox TV and was played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Let's take a look at how it all went down.

The Arizona Cardinals QB Palmer passed for 3 touchdowns in their win over the Dallas Cowboys, who were without starting QB Romo. The Cowboys backup QB Weeden was unable to get Dallas into the end zone until the game was already out of reach of winning. Now the Cardinals are the only team in the NFL/NFC with just the 1 loss. The Cardinals defense was able to hold Cowboys RB Murray to under 100 yards rushing, which was the first time this season.

The leading offensive performers for the Cowboys were; QB Weeden, who completed 18 of 33, passes for 183 yards with 1 TD and was intercepted 2 times. RB’s Murray had 19 carries for 79 yards and Dunbar had 3 carries for 9 yards. Receivers Witten & Dunbar combined for 8 receptions for 114 yards. The Cowboys attained 18 first downs on 59 plays for 266 total yards, with 174 passing and 92 rushing, with 2 turnovers in the game.

The Arizona offensive leaders for the game were; QB Palmer who completed 22 or 34 passes for 249 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. RBs Willington & Grice had 26 carries for a combined 107 yards with Grice scoring 1 TD. Receivers Fitzgerald & Gann Jr. had 7 receptions for 112 yards. The Cardinals made 22 first downs on 65 plays for 339 total offensive yards, with 237 passing and 102 rushing, with 1 turnover in the game.

The Dallas defense held the Cardinals scoreless in the 1st quarter with they scored 10 points, however in the 2nd quarter the Cardinals scored 14 points and their defense held Dallas scoreless, thus the 1st half ended Arizona 14 Dallas 10. In the 3rd quarter both teams were scoreless, while in the 4th quarter the Cardinals scored 14 points and the Cowboys scored, which left the final score for the game, Arizona 28 and Dallas 17.

The Cardinals only loss was at the Denver Broncos in Denver 41-20 on Sunday the 5th of October 2014 in their 4 game of the season. This win for the Cardinals was the 4th consecutive win over the Cowboys, and that was the first win of those 4 games, that was not won on the final play of the game, as 2 of the 3 previous wins were in OT.
