Oakland Raiders NFL Odds
They were 10-5 to the over in terms of NFL Game Odds totals. NFL Odds show that the Raiders have another high draft pick that they will need if they are to show any signs of life. NFL game Odds experts believe that head coach Monte Kiffin will need everyone to play well if the expects to keep his job in 2008.
The Raiders made an off-season splash as they overpaid for CB DeAngelo Hall. They also signed Tommy Kelly and Gibril Wilson to upgrade the defense. The biggest problem for the Raiders in terms of winning games and in NFL betting odds is that they have no reliable quarterback. Jamarcus Russell has yet to show that he was worthy of a top pick. The Raiders have not had much success in the NFL draft in recent seasons according to NFL Odds experts. Robert Gallery has not played up to his lofty status on the offensive line so the Raiders may have to go back to the draft for a lineman. The defensive line also needs help according to NFL Odds experts as Warren Sapp is now gone.
The Raiders defense is though of to be decent by NFL Odds experts but the numbers are nothing special. The Raiders were 21st in the NFL in yards allowed last season according to NFL Odds stats. Perhaps it looks good because the offense was worse at 25th in yards gained according to NFL Odds numbers. The Raiders have to address the defensive line if they hope to improve the defense and they may have to do the same on the offensive line.
Surprisingly the Raiders were competitive on the road in 2007 against NFL Odds as they went 4-4. They were not good at home though as they went 2-6 against the NFL Odds. The Raiders can be more competitive in NFL Odds in 2008 at home and on the road if Russell develops into a solid quarterback. If not, they will disappoint NFL Game Odds gamblers again during the 2008 NFL season. The once proud Raiders franchise has been a disaster recently and that will probably be the case as long as owner Al Davis makes decisions.
