The Seahawks did have problems though.  On NFL betting stats they ranked poorly on both, offense and defense and injuries were a major problem during the football betting season.  Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck both missed time and it hurt the Seahawks in the 2006 NFL betting season.  The Seahawks could not stop the run during the football betting season and it eventually cost them in the loss to the Bears in the NFC playoffs.

This Seattle team maintained a relatively high level of performance that carried over from their 2005 Super Bowl NFL betting campaign.  Once this team and coaching staff was done complaining about their loss to the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers they seemed able to savor the success of their 2005 football betting season, the first real post football betting season glory for this franchise in decades and its first ever Super Bowl appearance.  Matt Hasselbeck did some commercials for Chunky’s soup with his mom and MVP Shawn Alexander with his newly held touchdown record graced the cover of Madden 2006.  NFL betting fans loved them but, only one of those endorsements worked out well for the players and the team.

In 2006 football betting season Alexander was just the latest of the long line of players to fall victim to the Madden video game cover curse.  For years the player that appears on the cover of the game has gotten injured seriously the next football betting season and Alexander was no exception.  He missed a few months of the football betting season and as a result was only able to carry the ball 255 times, which is far under his average on NFL betting stats.  He also only averaged 3.6 yards a carry, much below his average and had seven touchdowns.  His 896 total yards compared to what he normally produces and no other back was really able to step in and fill his role.  It was easy for defenses to key on the pass game and plays the running game straight up in the absence of Alexander.

When Alexander finally returned, things started to improve almost immediately for the Sea-chickens –and for the NFL betting followers too-.  After an awful start in the football betting season, the team finally started to win games again.  It was aided greatly by the weakling NLF betting schedule that the team plays in the NFC West, but a win’s a win and the Seahawks were getting plenty, or at least enough to win the division and qualify for the playoffs.  In most divisions this team would have had a losing record, but again you can thank the weakness of the NFC West.  So the Sea-chickens made the playoffs yet again only to be destroyed there and sent packing.  But considering how awful the football betting season started out, the team’s got to be optimistic about its chances if it can stay healthy in 2007 football betting season.

Matt Hasselbeck had another decent football betting year, a bit of a let down from the previous football betting year, but he missed a number of games as well with injury and never had the running game to compliment his passing until late in the football betting year when he played his best NFL betting games.   He finished with 2400 yards, 18 TDs, 15 INTs and a 76 QB football betting rating, all after missing crucial games with injuries.  Receiver Dieon Branch was brought in during the off-season from the Pats to try and give the offense more weapons.  He was pedestrian with 53 receptions and 725 yards.  However, Darrell Jackson had a strong season with 63 catches and nearly 1000 yards.

The defense was once again dominated by Lofa Tatupu who racked up 123 tackles to lead the team in his sophomore football betting season.  Julian Peterson also proved to be a key off-season acquisition from the 49ers as he had a bit of resurgence and recorded 10 sacks.  But the rest of the defensive unit was somewhat lack luster.  The teams secondary all ranked at the top of the heap in tackles and that’s a bad sign, meaning that a lot of plays were going for big yards.  But it wasn’t any worse than what the offense contributed either.

Both the offensive and defensive units ranked 19th in the football betting league, which isn’t good enough to get you into the playoffs, let alone win a division in most divisions.  The teams 20 points a game ranked 14th among the NFL betting teams for the highest team stat and the worst the Seahawks ranked was 22nd in rushing yards per game, allowing 127 from their opponents on a weekly basis.  This was not a good team in 2006 football betting season.  However, much of that had to do with injuries to key players.  As the players got healthy the team got better and they played their best ball at the end of the football betting season which is always encouraging.  But as football betting seasons go, especially for a team coming off a Super Bowl year 2006 was a big let down for the Seattle Seahawks, much of that to do with injuries.
