The Colonials lost some talent in the off-season but the cupboard is not entirely bare for fans of basketball odds.
College basketball odds in 2007-2008 will not have the Colonials favored as many times as they were a year ago. Karl Hobbs still has a good team according to college basketball odds experts but he will be without Carl Elliott, as well as frontcourt veterans Dokun Akingbade and Regis Koundjia. GW does welcome back senior guard Maureece Rice, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 A-10 Championship, and junior forward Rob Diggs. The season according to experts at college basketball odds will revolve around how many games Rice can win with his scoring. Travis King was GW's most productive freshman last season averaging 5.7 points and 2.4 assists and may provide support according to college basketball odds experts. Damian Hollis, a 6-8 guard, converted 22-of-50 (.440) three-pointers as a freshman a year ago and make affect basketball odds. The inside game will be anchored by Diggs, Cheyenne Moore, Hermann Opoku and Peter Laplante according to experts that consider college basketball odds. Junior Wynton Witherspoon, a transfer, averaged 6.3 points in just 18.7 minutes as a sophomore at Virginia Tech in 2005-06 and could make an impact in college basketball odds. Newcomers according to basketball odds experts are Xavier Alexander, Miles Beatty and forward Jabari Edwards.
This will be a major test according to basketball odds experts for head coach Karl Hobbs. The Colonials have Rice and some decent supporting players but no other stars that will impact college basketball odds. Lately it has been just reload at GW so the 2007-2008 season will be another test of that theory. Rice is capable of scoring from anywhere at anytime and will need to do so if George Washington is to beat the college basketball odds. The frontcourt is just nothing special so Rice will need to carry the scoring. Perhaps Witherspoon can step in right away and help and affect college basketball odds. Beatty may also be able to help Rice in the scoring department this season according to college basketball odds experts.
Hobbs has proven to be an excellent coach and he is reason enough not to discount the Colonials this season versus college basketball odds. His teams are always well prepared and play solid defense. Rice will win games by himself and Hobbs will probably get GW to make another run at the A-10 title.
