The Knicks have won six of the last ten in this series against the Wizards and they are 7-3 against the NBA betting odds.
Basketball betting had these two teams playing just a few nights ago as the Wizards won 106-96 at home on Saturday. That was the first meeting of the season between the two teams and it is now two straight for the Wizards in the series dating back to last year. Both of those games were in Washington though and this has been a home team dominated series. The Knicks have won the last three in New York and covered the NBA betting odds each time. Until the last two games, this had been a high scoring series but Saturday’s game and last year’s matchup went under the total. The previous six games had all gone over.
In Saturday’s loss, David Lee had 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Knicks. Jared Jeffries added a season high 17 points in the contest. Washington was led by Mike Miller’s 25 points and Antawn Jamison’s 21 points and 23 rebounds. The Wizards blew an 18-point lead in the game but recovered to win by ten in NBA betting.
Washington is 8-12-2 on the road this season vs. the basketball betting line. They are 21st on offense and 22nd on defense so they don’t have many positives. Jamison and Caron Butler can be effective players and now that Mike Miller is healthy, the Wizards have another scoring option.
New York is 18-29 straight up this season and 21-26 against the basketball betting point spread. The Knicks are 12-13 at home this season vs. the basketball betting number. New York is 14th in the NBA in scoring and 23rd on defense so you would think they play high scoring games. In fact, they don’t. They have gone under the NBA betting total in 28 of their 47 games this season. David Lee is having an excellent season for the Knicks and there are occasions when other players like Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari and even Jared Jeffries can make an impact in basketball betting. New York still does not have NBA talent across the board though and that is why they are inconsistent on a nightly basis in basketball betting.
