With the NBA Annual All-Star game this coming Sunday the 15th of Feb. 2015 with the east playing the West there are still regular season games through this Thursday the 12th of Feb. 2015.
Last night we saw the 3rd game of 4 game series between the 36-16 Houston Rockets playing the 29-25 Phoenix Suns in a game where the combined total score was some 245 points.
The game tipped off at 8 PM ET and was seen on TNT TV with the game played at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona with the Rockets winning the game 127 to 118.
The Houston Rockets took an early lead in the 1st quarter scoring some 41 points, while the Phoenix Suns scored 23 points. In the 2nd quarter the Rockets scored some 29 points, while the Suns score 38 points, so the game went to half-time at 70 for the Rockets and 61 for the Suns.
In the 2nd half and the 3rd quarter the Rockets scored 18 points, while the Suns scored 18, thus the 3rd quarter ended with the Rockets 88 and the Suns 89 taking the lead. In the final 4th quarter the Rockets rallied back scoring 39 points, while the Suns scored 29 points and the Rockets won the game 127 to 118.
The offensive leaders for the Rockets was SG Harden who had 40 points with 12 rebounds and 9 assists, off the bench SF Smith with 20 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists, starter PG Beverly with 15 points 6 rebounds and 6 assists and off the bench SG Brewer with 14 points 7 rebounds and 1 assist. SG Harden scored 20 of his 40 points in the 4th quarter of the game.
Leading offensively for the Suns was PG Bledsoe with 32 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists, SG Dragic with 20 points 5 rebounds and 2 assists. SF Tucker with 17 points 7 rebounds and 1 assist and off the bench PG with 14 points 1 rebound and 6 assists.
In this game the Houston Rockets had an 18 point lead early in the game and when the end of the third quarter they were behind the Suns by 1 point. Then as many Rocket fans expect, their shooting star James Harden who is the NBA’s leading scorer averaging 27.7 points per game scored 20 points in the final quarter helping the Rockets to beat the Suns 127-118 last Tuesday night.
Harden has been the offensive star for the Rockets all season and he was again on Tuesday night, who average some 27.7 points per game, in the 4th quarter completed 7 of his 10 shots at basket which for the most part were driving shots. He made all 5 of his foul shots and made 1 of his 3 from 3 point range.
The Rockets Harden certainly will be a candidate for MVP if he continues his play for the rest of this 2014-15 NBA season. This week his University, Arizona State will retire his number in his honor for exemplary play his University in basketball.
