NBA Betting: Summer League Recap. It was basketball fan heaven in Sin City the past ten days. Sixty games were played between NBA rookies, sophomores and wannabe’s. Twenty four teams participated in Vegas, competing in five games each.

There was disappointment in the beginning, when first overall pick of the Hornets, Anthony Davis was replaced due to his being named to Team USA as a replacement for Blake Griffen. The move was good for Davis and the United States of America, but for the fans who traveled to Nevada to watch him, not so much.

However, Davis’ Kentucky teammate, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, picked second in the draft, made quite a splash in Las Vegas and we’re not talking about in the pool at the Mirage. Unfortunately for him, it turned out to be a quick dip when, after scoring 18 points, grabbing 8 boards, pitching off 5 assists and swiping 4 steals in game one, he did not play again due to soreness in his knee. Kyrie Irving, picked first overall by Cleveland last year was also unable to compete after he suffered a broken hand during practice. Another high draft pick that impressed, was the third choice, but not in this years event, but in 2006. Shaggy headed Adam Morrison played for the L.A. Clippers entry and averaged 20 points a game.

Some lottery selections who failed to impress the onlookers were, Dion Waiters, Thomas Robinson and Doc Rivers son, Austin. Conversely, some names not prominently mentioned in NBA circles who had solid performances included Evan Fournier, Terrence Jones and Damian Lillard. While the team standings are mostly irrelevant in these types of tournaments the Golden State Warriors finished on top with a perfect 5-0 record. Six teams went 4-1. The New York Knicks had a terrible unit and finished winless. The Lakers, Nuggets, Hornets and Bulls all were 1-4.
When you view the standings, for the most part, it is a reversal of how you might expect these teams to finish during the regular NBA season. Perhaps this suggests parity and a competitive 2012-13 year awaiting.
