Basketball Betting Trends: Nets at Hawks

January 23rd, 2024 Live NBA Betting Lines

Basketball betting on the New Jersey Nets has not been very popular this season and that will probably be the case again on Tuesday as they host the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have been one of the best teams in NBA betting this season.

Basketball betting in this series has shown the Hawks lose six of the last ten against the Nets but that was when the Nets were good. This season the Hawks have already pasted the Nets 119-89 and 130-107.  Both of those NBA betting wins were in Atlanta.  Both of those games also went over the total. The Nets have done much better at home against the Hawks, winning the last five although none of those wins were this season. In the two games this season, Jamal Crawford has averaged 21 points per game while Devin Harris has averaged 19 for New Jersey.

The Hawks are coming off a nice basketball betting win in their last game as they routed Detroit 112-99.  The Hawks led 30-12 after the first quarter and rolled to an easy win. Joe Johnson led all scorers with 26 points on the night, and Josh Smith had 18 points and a career-high 11 assists.  Atlanta is 8th in the league in points scored and they are just outside the top 10 in fewest points allowed this season.

Atlanta has been solid in basketball betting against the Atlantic Division, going 5-1 ATS in their last six. The Hawks have struggled on the road though as they are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Hawks are 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings in New Jersey.

New Jersey may be losing games outright but they are covering the point spread. The Nets are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall even though they have lost five of those six games outright. The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Southeast Division.  The Nets are not as good at home though as they are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Eight of the last nine Atlanta games overall have gone over the basketball betting total. Four of their last five on the road have gone over. Four of the last five New Jersey games against the Southeast Division have gone under the total. In this series, seven of the last nine have gone over.
