Basketball Betting – New Orleans Hornets at Phoenix Suns

February 1st, 2024 Live NBA Betting Lines

Basketball betting should be exciting on Thursday night as the Phoenix Suns host the New Orleans Hornets in a nationally televised game on TNT. The Hornets have one of the most exciting players in the league in Chris Paul while the Suns have Steve Nash, Shaquille O’Neal and Amare Stoudemire.  The pro basketball line has the Suns as small favorites in this matchup.

Basketball numbers show that the Suns have won six of the last ten meetings between the two teams but they are only 4-6 versus the pro basketball betting number in those games.  All three meetings between the two teams last year went over the basketball betting total.  That broke a trend that saw the previous seven games go under the pro basketball betting total.
The Hornets have covered the last three trips to Phoenix according to basketball betting stats.  New Orleans was a favorite team last season of basketball gamblers.  They went 50-30-2 against the pro basketball number, which was third best in the league.  The Suns were just below .500 against the basketball betting number, going 39-40-3.

Many basketball experts are predicting a big year from New Orleans.  If the Hornets have a lot of success it will probably be due to the play of Chris Paul.  He averaged 21 points per game a year ago according to basketball betting stats and also dished out 11.6 assists per game.  He was the first player in NBA history to average at least 21 points, 11.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game according to basketball stats  New Orleans was tough on the road last season, especially late as they won 17 of their last 26 road games according to basketball numbers.  A few other interesting basketball numbers show that the Hornets won 37 games by at least 10 points or more.  The Hornets had the second-most wins of any team against the Western Conference (34) and had the second-best road record
(26-14) in the Western Conference. The Hornets were one of two NBA teams to have two players average a double-double (Paul, Chandler).
