Yankees & Twins in Televised Wednesday Baseball Wagering

February 29th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins are featured in Wednesday baseball wagering as they play the second of a three game series in a game televised on ESPN. It should be an excellent pitching matchup in MLB wagering as Andy Pettitte goes for New York while Francisco Lirano gets the start for Minnesota.

Baseball wagering will likely list the Yankees as slight road favorites in this game. Pettitte is 5-1 on the season with a 2.68 ERA while Lirano is 4-3 with a 3.25 ERA. Pettitte had his first bad outing of the season last Thursday against Tampa Bay as he gave up six earned runs in his first loss of the season. It was the first loss for Pettitte in his last 14 starts going back to last season. Pettitte was excellent against the Twins earlier this month as he pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings.  He is 10-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 20 career starts against the Twins in MLB wagering.

Liriano gave up three runs on nine hits in six innings the last time he faced the Yankees. In his last start, Liriano gave up five runs on five hits and two walks against Boston. He has lost three straight overall in baseball wagering but he is still pitching pretty well. He has 52 strikeouts in 52 2/3 innings.

The Twins finally broke a long losing streak against the Yankees earlier this month in MLB wagering.  The Twins won 6-3 at New York as they beat Mariano Rivera. That victory broke a 12-game losing streak for the Twins against the Yankees. It will be interesting to see in this series if the Twins now play better since that monkey is off their back. Before this series began, five of the last six between the two teams had gone under the total in baseball wagering.

If you are going to bet against the Yankees in baseball wagering then doing it on the road might be the place.  The Yankees have been tough at home but on the road they are just around the .500 mark.  New York is the top hitting team in the league but their pitching is only 11th in the league.  Minnesota has almost an identical record to New York and it applies to their home and road marks. Minnesota is also much better at home than on the road. They could have some success in this series against the Yankees in baseball wagering.
