Yankees Favored in Monday MLB Betting on ESPN

ESPN will televise the MLB betting matchup on Monday as the New York Yankees travel to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks.

The Yankees are coming off the Subway Series against the Mets so they will have to avoid a letdown in this game at Arizona.  The Diamondbacks have not played well for the most part this season but at home they have at least been competitive in baseball betting.

MLB betting odds favor the Yankees in this Monday night matchup.  New York has been solid on the road this season and they have a far better team than Arizona. The Diamondbacks are 17-16 at home this season and that is one of the few positives about Arizona.  The Diamondbacks are expected to start Rodrigo Lopez on Monday. He is 2-6 on the season with a 4.70 ERA.  In his last start against Boston he allowed six runs on ten hits in seven innings.  He allowed five runs in seven innings in his previous start against St. Louis.  Those baseball betting numbers do not bode well against a powerful New York lineup.

The Yankees have won 7 of the last 10 meetings against Arizona in MLB betting.  The teams have not met since 2007 when the Yankees swept the Diamondbacks in New York.  The teams haven’t played against each other in Arizona since 2004 when the Yankees took two of three.

New York has been either first or second in runs scored all season.  They should be able to score some runs in this matchup against a very poor Arizona pitching staff. The Yankees also have a solid pitching staff that ranks in the top ten in the league in ERA.

Arizona has the worst ERA in the league but they can hit the ball a little bit. The Diamondbacks are in the top 10 in runs scored per game.  It seems unlikely they can hit enough to stay with the Yankees in this game or in this baseball betting series though.  Arizona has been going over the total quite a bit this season since they are scoring some runs but giving up even more.  This series has the potential to be high scoring in MLB betting since the Yankees can also put up runs.
