Rays & Angels in Tuesday Late Night Baseball Betting

March 15th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

Tuesday night baseball betting features as matchup on the West Coast between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels. It is the second game of a three-game series between the two teams.

The MLB betting odds on this game are tight since Tampa Rays has been so great on the road this season. Baseball betting odds normally favor the Angels when they are at home but this is not the same Los Angeles team from last year. The Angels have not played well early in the season and they are not as good as Tampa Bay.  The Angels will be sending Scott Kazmir to the mound on Tuesday and he has struggled going 2-2 with a 7.11 ERA this season. He was shelled last time out at Boston giving up seven earned runs on six hits and five walks in four and a third innings.  “My delivery felt good, I had good rhythm and tempo,” Kazmir said. “But I got behind on a lot of hitters, instead of attacking the strike zone. Walk five guys … you’re not going to win putting guys on base every single inning.” He will be facing his former team for the first time since being traded last August.

Jeff Niemann is one of those pitchers in baseball betting that goes under the radar. He does not have the big name but he sure does get results. He is 2-0 this season with a 2.23 ERA.  He shutout the Mariners in his last start, throwing seven scoreless innings.  He does not have a career decision against the Angels in two starts but his ERA is high at 8.00.

Before yesterday’s game, the Angels had won six of the previous ten meetings against Tampa Bay.  The Angels won five of six last season vs. Tampa in MLB betting including all three games in Anaheim. Two of those games were high scoring as the Angels won 8-7, 10-5 and 6-0.  This year’s Los Angeles team does not look capable of sweeping the Rays this time around.  The Angels are not as good as last year and this year’s Tampa Bay team has looked very good.  Not only are they good, they are a loose bunch. “I want them to be that way.” Tampa manager Joe Maddon said, “There’s not one thing I do well that I get up tight about and then go out and perform well with it. I don’t know what that would be. It’s baseball. It’s what they’ve always wanted to do since they were kids.”
