MLB Odds: Braves vs. Giants

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

MLB odds followers have plenty of games to pour over on May 26. It will be a full plate of MLB betting odds and one game that might be of interest to fans is the Atlanta Braves vs. the San Francisco Giants.

Neither team is exactly dominating the MLB odds standings at the moment, but both are intriguing teams that with a little good fortune could still around for the sports betting in October.

MLB odds makers have not been smiling on the either the Giants or the Braves lately but one look at these teams and you could easily conclude that maybe the MLB betting odds community should pay more attention. Both teams are at .500 or better in the MLB odds standings and the Braves are just 2.5 games out of first in the NL East.

Atlanta has a big advantage in this game as it will be playing at home, always worth a run or two in the MLB betting odds. But Atlanta has its weaknesses which the Giants will be looking to exploit in order to get a favorable MLB odds result. The Braves are also surprisingly bad at home win (an 8-12 record in the MLB odds in Atlanta vs. 12-8 on the road in the MLB betting odds) so maybe the home field thing isn’t such a big deal?

The Braves also lack any type of discernable power and that has cost them a few wins in the MLB odds this season. The team’s batting average is terrific but with just two players with 20 or more RBIs Atlanta has a tough time brining the base runners all the way around and it’s hurt the team in their sports betting endeavors.

Fortunately for Atlanta with regards to this MLB odds match up, the Giants offense is woeful. The team’s run production begins and ends with Benji Molina who, after a hot start, is now slumping in recent MLB odds outings. That does not bode well for the Giants who have scored just six runs in their most recent MLB betting odds contests. Add to this the fact that the Braves starting rotation has quietly been one of the better groups in the MLB odds.

The saving grace for the Giants has been their outstanding pitching staff, only one of the better rotations in MLB odds. Tim Lincecum is arguably the best pitcher in the MLB odds right now and if he should get the start in Atlanta look out Braves. In any event this should be a low scoring pitchers’ duel with the final MLB odds result decided by a single run or two.
